Don't read the magazine but after seeing what they rated pes2009, I can safely say that the magazine holds no credebility in my eyes.
I agree with Peter Moore on this.. how can fifa not get in the top 50? For me, it's my top game at the moment. Not only does it faithfully recreate the beautiful game, it also gives you more offline and online options than any other game i've played. The adidas live season thingie is also a huge implementation and definately has set a completely new standard of what should be expected in a sports game.
Being somewhat biased towards the 360, i'm suprised i'm saying this but really.. it's about godamn time someone gave a goty to a game worthy of it.
Can't comment on games like fable 2 or fallout 3 but seriously, GTA4 is not goty material.. it's the same old rehashed gta style game start from the bottom and work your way up.. the only thing that saves how dull this can become when missions get repetitive, is the amazing voice acting.

Why do Japanese companies constantly screw over European customers? While it's not exclusive to Jap companies, they are without a doubt the worst for it. Bad mouth the 360 as much as you want but at least we don't get delays on stuff like both sony and nintendo peeps get.

One of the reasons these games aren't doing well is EA's reputation. I for one will never buy an ea game until I know someone respectable who has played it and recommends it. Not to mention I heard dead space's story is short.. paying full price for a short single player experience and no mp.. in today's age, that's unacceptable.. at least on the xbox 360 it is.
Because the wii didn't have any goty material games. Say what you want about console sales but look at the games sales.. they are way below the ps3 and xbox 360 games.

Pretty much as lombax says really.. I bought a wii because of it's gimmicky nature and was left extremely disapointed and sold it within the first month of owning it. It's clearly a console for families and not for the hardcore gamer like myself. Not to mention the fact the games cost as much as a 360/ps3 game is a joke.

Comparing ps home to xbl is like comparing apples to oranges. Home is a social hub and xbl isn't really designed for that. Sony seem to be marketing home as their answer to xbl but really it isn't at all.

I've tried home and tbh, it's crap! Sony have no clue what so ever in my opinion. I buy a games console to game, if I want to socialise, I will go to a pub. If this is sony's answer to xbl, then M$ are going to be laughing.
I see all these 9+ scores and im always wondering if there is something i'm missing in my copy of resistance 2. Got it with my ps3 and within an hour of it (45 minutes single player, 15 minutes mp,) I took it down and traded it in. Blu ray isn't worth the money.. sure it's nice and by preference i'd take it but it isn't worth spending almost double the cost of a normal dvd on. Unless you watched a SD and a HD movie at the same time, you really don't notice the difference.
This move is TERRIBLE!! What this means is that it's basically a free to play game. Look at all the other free to play mmos there are, it's filled with little 12 year old morons. When I first heard about this game, I was super psyched.. more so than any other game but everything i've read about this game, it's being made as a cashcow without a thought to either star wars or mmo fans.

Is resistance 2 really THAT good? I owned the original and the only reason it done well, is because it was the only ps3 exclusive fps as a launch title. The game felt distinctively average at best and shooting things just didn't feel as fun. Unless resistance 2 has been designed from the ground up, I really fail to see how it could even be mentioned in the same article as a goty one.
As BX81 says, despite the faults, it's still an awesome game mp wise anyway. Sure the glitches suck and the amount of annoying kids but other than glitches and some balancing issues, you can't blame epic though for people using them... that's down to M$ to actually sort out for this supposed "premium" service and learn to ban the glitchers and the screaming 10 year olds.
Still, i'd say the majority of people bashing gears are sony humping fanbois who havn't even play...
