Sonybots are willing to pay $200 more for a machine that doesn't have many good games / looks no better then the other machines and is mainly a blu-ray player (weather they want it or not)
But have a problem with spending $50.00 (less then the cost of a game) per year for great online service.

I thought that blu-ray was so great for gamming. We would have better graphics and longer games because of all the space. but we were lied to, The extra space has to be used to duplicate the game because of the slow load times.
I guess we know know the truth ... sony put blu-ray into the ps3 as a trojan horse in their format war, and made a game machine second to a blu-ray movie player.
they knew their sonybots would still buy it no matter how bad the machine was...
maybe they ment blu-ray movies.
i thought PS3 was a blu-ray player first...

The families that i know that their kids own a PS2, and they want a PS3 but it is just too expensive for them to spend for a "toy". These are just comments i have heard from other parents. Even my own wife asked what blu-ray was after seeing a commercial. And she didn't seem to care after i told her.
How many people are willing to spend tons of money on a format that might becaome the next betamax. If your smart you will wait.

I do not plan on buying a HD-DVD add on for the 360. I choose to wait for a winner in the format war. when there is a winner i will buy a stand alone player.

No one cares about blu-ray or that it is a so called "computer" they still think of it as a $600 toy
shouldn't the PS3 version look a lot better. We were told the Cell processor had all this power, and True HD began with the PS3. Blu-ray was needed, and would show all this improvement because the developers had the extra space. For $600 nothing would compare.
But instead we get games that look the same or worse then on other systems and continue to be told about all the potential.

They can put out all the pamphlets and booklets they want, for most families it is still a game machine and they will not spend $600 for a toy.
the average person does not care about blu-ray / HD-DVD until there is a winner, when there is stand alone players will cost a lot less then $600. so there3 is no reason the buy a PS3 for blu-ray.
