As fast as technology changes, why would you want to hold on for 10 years, 5 years tops. I hope they do not wait that long to make a PS4, as other systems come out with newer more advanced hardware it will make the PS3 look pretty bad. I know they like saying 10years to make people feel better about spending $600 but lets be real. In 10 years do you really want a game system with hardware that is 10 years old. I hope MS and nintendo doesn't think this way.
What about Movies on Demand from the cable company. If you have digital cable you can rent a movie with no wait and no going to the video store for about the same price. So add that to the microsoft DD.
Edit: someone disagreed? I have rented a few movies from "on Demand" 2 clicks on the remote and you get a movie that is available for 24 hours. The 3.95 cost is added to your cable bill. Nothing to disagree with it is a fact?

the PS3 cost much more in europe because of taxes. they pay much more taxes for everything then we do in the US. Has nothing to do with sony.
I do not use wireless network, i use a wired connection buecause it is much better, so including wifi is a plus. I don't care about HD-DVD or blu-ray right now, when there is a clear winner i will buy a stand alone player of much higher quality. so not including a high def player is a plus. So i am not sure why they would say it is bad that they do not include things that aren't needed but you have to pay for.
You are correct, HDMI is only for copyright protection, there is no quality difference from component cables. But using digital HDMI cable is the only way that movie companies can protect their movies from being pirated.
My digital cable box has HDMI and i had to replace it with a component cable because the picture was actually worse then with the component cable on channels such as HBO.
I wonder how much this would cost in electricity. I wonder if this will cause extra wear and tear on your system causing it to break down sooner then normal.

isn't this supposed to be a game machine? shouldn't they have some PR showing some awesome games. If i was a consumer that was buying a $600 games machine i don't care about how it can cure cancer or play blu-ray movies.
