Modders and Data Miners have found files and code from Skyrim in both Fallout 4 & 76 that doesn’t really do anything. Bethesda from an optimization standpoint is so incompetent that bugs fixed by modders in Fallout 4 have reamerged in Fallout 76 due to the company’s copypasting of assets.
Uncharted 2, Mass Effect, GOW 3 and Bioshock have some of my favorite opening levels as well. Other favorites of mine are the openings of Prey (2006), Halo CE's The Pillar of Autumn and Timesplitters 2's Siberia level.
Several of the listed games aren't sequels, but fans wanted more entries of their favorite series. However, the majority of the games listed in the article didn't live up to fan and critic expectations.
t EA hyped up the battle royale aspect of the game yet failed to launch BF v with the mode. PUBG, BLOPs 4 and Fortnite will probably dominate battle royale for the next year or so, I think EA missed their chance.
Battlefield V lower sale are EA/ Dice's own doing, the amount if missing content as you stated will lead to people holding off from buying the game or skipping it all together. Also, late buyers of the title likely won't be interested in paying $60 for the title.
The lowest score for the Darksiders III on metacritic is 2.0 out of 10 which maybe a bit hyperbole.
Videos games are the only media where selling a broken or semi-broken product is acceptable. There should be legislation that prevent publishers from releasing their games in an intentionally poor state.
The massive success of steam is the main reason we didn’t get Half-Life 3. Valve makes so much off steam that they as a company no longer need to produce AAA games.
Low standards or Bethesda sent a cheque?
The author mentions “amazing graphics” in fallout 76, what else have they been playing since 2009?
I don't think COD BLOP 4 outselling Read Dead Redemption 2 is that surprising. COD is released so often that many people buy the games habitability or do so because its a popular thing to do.
It was so rewarding to unlock goofy characters. Nowadays I have to spend virtual credit to unlock characters and skins rather than earn them.
I think part of the charm of games like Timesplitters was that there wasn’t a reliance on having the best tech or graphics. The Timesplitters games instead focused on their content and gameplay more so that many shooters currently do. I great shooter doesn’t need lots of expensive cutscenes, and top end graphics. We need more FPS games that focus on level design, content, gameplay and player vs player balance.
It is getting harder-and-harder to create successful new ips, especially in a crowded and competitive FPS genre. This gen we had successful new FPS ips such as: Overwatch, Destiny and too a lesser extent Titanfall. Also several older FPS franchises were brought back with varying degrees of success notably Doom, Rainbow Six, Prey (reimagined),Wolfenstein & Quake.
I am not even sure if we gamers need an abundance of new FPS ips. There are several likely of quality FPS gam...
I have no interest in playing Fallout 76, as I predicted it was going to be rushed mess of a game. I think it is about time a Bethesda title took a hard critical hit due to the studio’s development practices.
It has been implied by Bethesda themselves that Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 won't use a new engine. CD Projekt Red, R*, Gorilla Games, Ubisoft and others are way ahead of Bethesda when it comes to open-world game tech.
Not to mention they are selling a game that is largely a copy-paste of Fallout 4 assets with MP tacked on. Fallout 76 is more like a $60 dollar mod than a AAA game.
The war stories in BF1 were nothing too special to began with. I was dumbstruck by the fact that some critics in 2016 where putting BF1's campaign on a comparable level to that of Doom (2016) and Titanfall 2 .
The BF V is not launching with a lot of content which may encourage potential buyers to hold off on buying the game.
Rare was going downhill before MS bought them.
