Games that follow world design principles established by the Metroid and Castelvania series are accurately referred to Metroidvania. E.g. Ori is a metroidvania game as it focuses on item/ability collection, backtracking and unlocking new paths from areas that you previously visited. I personally think Metroidvania rolls of the tongue well, plus the term plays homage to the series that started it.
As an aside:
One genre or labeling that I don't really agree ...
Metroid Samus Returns should be given an upgraded Switch port.
Even though I'm not too interested in Bleeding Edge, I do feel the game didn't get a fair initial reveal. Bleeding Edge leaked early and MS didn't do too great of job presenting Bleeding Edge (and their other 1st party titles at E3 2019). That being said having enjoyed both Hellblade and DMC, I'm more interested what single-payer project(s) Ninja Theory is working on.
Media of the cyberpunk subgenre of science fiction typically builds of the concept of high tech/low life. Deus Ex, Bladerunner and Shadowrun all deal with the issues associated with classism, discrimination and technology.
Doom Eternal mp will be more successful if it has traditional arena shooter modes. Doom (2016) mp in my opinion was unbalanced and lacked synergy with the campaign. Many Including myself didn’t like the general lack of weapons on map, presence of load outs and the rather gimmicky op demon power ups.
Stop praising every little thing Nintendo does. The Switch isn’t remarkably engineered either. Numerous cells phones have better specs than the Nintendo Switch and could outperform the console where they better optimized for gaming.
I currently think the best studio to do a new Banjo (or Conker)game would be Double Fine. Double Fine is wrapping up Psychonauts 2 and has plenty of experience with platformers, plus they're now first party.
This is a weird article. It’s written almost as if
Gamespots wants to sew skepticism about the Scarlet’s backwards compatibility with Xbox One. It should be obvious to any journalist, that the Coalition focusing on preparing Gears 5 for its fall launch.
I hope the physical versions of Cyberpunk 2077 ships with two discs.
There are far more demanding racers on the Xbox One and PS4 that run at (or near) 60 FPS with resolutions at or near 1080p. The visuals and physics of kart racers, like Crash Team Racing shouldn’t be anywhere near as demanding on GPU and CPU resources When compared to: Forza Motorsport 7 (Xbox One) or Gran Turismo Sport (PS4).
It’s surprising that the PS4 (and Xbox One) versions of Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled are 30 frames a second...
Inside Xbox was cringe; it focused far too heavily on advertising gamepass.
Games would still be expected to work on both the low and high end versions of the Switch.
The only MS owned games that are on Switch are Hellblade and Minecraft, which were Multiplatform before Microsoft bought the IPs. Banjo has a history with Nintendo due to Rare’s N64-era partnership with the Japanese Publisher. Licensing of the characters, Banjo-Kazooie to smash is mutually beneficial for MS and Nintendo. However, MS porting their games to a system known for challenging ports and low third-party sales doesn’t sound like too wise of an investment.

This article is hyperbole. Banjo-Kazooie in smash is currently nothing more than licensing deal. Sega, Capcom, Square Enid and Bandai-Namco license their characters for smash. Yet, all the previously mentioned don’t release all their games on the Nintendo Switch.
There is too much completion releasing this year and next year. I don’t think Anthem can recover as its player count is already well below that of older games like Destiny 2 and even Battlefield 1.
Many of the big publishers are thankfully moving away from loot boxes. EA, however...
You can tell Disney toned down lightsabers in the new films and tv series. Attacks that should cut someone clean in two (e.gz Kylo slashing Fin’s back) don’t do as much damage as they should. Also, Star Wars Rebels was very toned down compared to the Clone Wars .
Yah, you’re right, Epic store exclusivity isn’t comparable to console exclusivity. Downloading the Epic store and starting an account only takes time, unlike console exclusives that may require you to spend extra cash for a new console.
