Its a bit double really. Its clear that the PC performance is not increasing as fast as it has done in the last 20 years anymore. Its nice if you want to buy "the next game" with your 3 year old system. It does however also put restrains on the quality improvements in area's such as graphics and physics.
I am actually pretty happy with the results from this fact analysis. Both my Desktop and Laptop should be able to run it medium/medium-high settings.
There is a difference between running it smooth and running it smooth though. If you like to play competitive you want to prevent it from ever slowing down below a certain threshold to stay ahead of your opponent(s). For those who are more average players and/or love to play single player the actual performance is bound to another s...
Its hard to guess really. Clues flying around on the unannounced 4th project. They confirm its a next gen MMO (whatever that means) and that there is a dev team working on it.
Other then that its just rumours: Diablo MMO, Starcraft MMO or a new franchise? Thinking about it, I think creating a totally new brand for their next MMO isn't that strange. They will have all the freedom in the world (literally) to do and go where they want. Maybe some viking inspired thing isn't all that...
I have seen little bits on Starcraft 2 pop up around the community. Most of the Blizzard World Wide invitational related news was pretty much dominated by the Diablo III announcement. This information "burst" took me by surprise really. Nice.
@3.3 Ah, I already wondered how that worked. So the Scratch card cannot be used right away. Seems logically enough since it would have been found in the code and been a clear clue for the Diablo III announcement.
You are probably right. Even though there are about.. I think it was a few 1000 that attended? out there the demand for these is probably a whole lot bigger. So.. how does it actually look like in the wow engine?
Well it might be weird, but that was one of the first things I noticed while watching the Blizzard WWI live streams: the Zerg Creep changed quite a bit and looks more purple and more like the original. The heartbeat animations with all the moving vains and such made the whole thing complete!
I also like the little tweaks they did on it. If it wasn't already, Creep is becoming one of the true backbones of the Zerg race.
I have watched most of the show (the announcement, the firedancers show and the various Q & A sessions) and I must say that I enjoyed it very very much!
Starcraft 2 is clearly beeing overrun by Diablo 3 demons currently :) I can't wait for either Starcraft II or Diablo III to come out really. Its a real luxory problem to have both to wait for.
For those of you willing to view the official live streams of the WWI 2008 event (start at 11:45 GMT + 1).. You might have noticed that Blizzards' official WWI pages are down. StarcraftWire has a listing available for you here: http://www.starcraftwire.ne...
Enjoy!
While I agree with you that the name for the new units might have been choosen with a little bit more imagination I do find this new mechanic to be really, really interesting.
It makes the Zerg quite versatile since it enables them to add in units in time for any first counter (at the increased cost ofcourse).
The addiction factor that comes with the Blizzard games (exclusing war3 for me) is almost scary but a Diablo 3 game would sure as hell be nice to forward to.
I loved part 1, I even loved the unofficial expansion (even though it was pretty bad), I loved diablo 2 and its expansion. I can't begin to think what they could do with a possible 3th version of this charm!
I actually agree with him on the fact that the E3 actually lost quite a bit of relevance after the concept change. Quite a few big (PC) developers decided not to attend.
Calling it irrelevant is over the top though and not particularly reassuring for a title that has become the laughing stock of the industry a long time ago.
About 12 more hours untill the WWI Paris 2008 kick off! I really can't wait to see what comes with the release: a new famous CGI movie? Ingame footage as shown during the WWI Korea 2007? I still firmly believe it to be Diablo III (the announcement).
For anyone who thinks it is Starcraft try this one:

For all of you who want to see the announcement and/or other happenings at the WWI remember that Blizzard is providing live feeds from their website: http://eu.blizzard.com/wwi0... starting tomorrow at 11:45 GMT + 1.
Don't be sad just yet, the road to Diablo 3 lies wide open. This might be a nice option, but it is just that: an option.
The fact that:
- "industry sources" "confirmed" diablo 3.
- Blizzard obtained Diablo3.com.
- All CCS clues can be tied to Diablo 2 LoD.
Did support the D3 theory and they are still in the running. The fact that:
- The secret image is a pinguin
- A protoss head can be glued behind the image
...
While this image opens up the possibility of it being a Protoss face it in no way confirms anything. Don't forget how the splash images and all the other clues totally changed the various theories. There seem to be supportive theories for all IP as well as a new one. THe only things that can be 'officially excluded are games that are already announced and non-game products such as movies.
A Starcraft Related game beeing in the making next to Starcraft II would not be such a strange possibility especially if you consider the fact that Starcraft Ghost is official still on hold and not cancelled.
Whatever it turns out to be, it should be announced within the next 24 hours in Paris!
The old rumoured system requirements you talk about are actually linked in the article. StarcraftWire posted about them quite a while before IGN did. As I believe it was a Spanish site that spread the requirements that you are talking about.
