Nice interview. Thanks!
I know the ATI 9800, but the Geforce FX series? I can't say I know where those stood in the whole lineup? Does anyone know which Geforce card preceded/followed these?
I think these batches are a great way of keeping us up to date.
As for the single player campaign: I think Starcraft I and its expansion had one of the best single player campaigns I have ever played. I must have gone through it more then 10 times now and I still like it!
Its probably no surprise if I tell you that SP is going to be the first thing I am going to play? :)
Well, it has only been roughly a year since it was officially announced, but the cycle itself is ongoing ever since the last game was released (conceptually). Actual development started when they got their act together after the WoW storm.
Its a really good sign that they are now really focussing on the games' singleplayer campaign. This very fact suggests that they are now working towards a release.
I don't think the game will be released this year, but it should be early next year for sure ;) (I don't have any official source for this claim, its my best guess).
Heh, any Blizzard cinematic will do! they are amazing, and yea, lets hope we can enjoy it a bit longer ;)
Yea. From this article I get the impression that it will probably never be released.
He did admit he didn't have any real inside information, so he might be wrong. It must be really hard for a totally fresh team to fix and finish the product.
I am not so sure about that. I seems to me they wanted to much. Whoever decided to push made a wise decision. It was taking so much longer then anticipated.
What went wrong in my eyes is when they got told to push for release they should have cut out features and make sure it got the required polish. This clearly did not happen.
Another thing that went wrong was the unbelievably bad press right after release. The game wasn't what people expected, thats a given, but ...
We know what the official explanation is. Still I doubt anyone loving their work would leave in the middle of such a project, so its probably partially true at best.
Will we ever know the whole truth? I doubt it, but I don't think we have to know either.
As for colorization, Diablo 2 wasn't all that dark: some of the act 5 snowy levels where mostly white for instance. The fact that it is different now seems to have something to do with Light Radius. This concept in which your character basically is the source of light seems to have changed in Diablo 3. If the light radius is low the Character doesn't see to much of the level making the game effectively darker.
I agree that all the whining is way over the top and Blizzard should p...
I want to try my Warlock Paladin bubble piercing ability *grin
As to what this means is nothing more then speculation. It could mean there was friction in the team about the direction they wanted to take. If this is true then we have to remember an official statement by Diablo 3's Lead Producer Jay Wilson in which he stated that the art direction will not change.
If they do not release an official statement on this now that it has hit the news it will probably take untill Blizzcon 2008.
It’s probably a self fulfilling prophecy. If you loved their previous products you are going to look forward to the next one even more.
You should remember that images released during a test can hold all kinds of info. Early screencaptures usually don't do the final product justice.
I can very well imagine that a company only wants to publish stuff that is at a certain level of quality.
"The team chose to stick with the series' standard isometric perspective (rather, isometric-style) from day one"
Well thats one of the key elements of the game. Another perspective might have been fun as well but its probably for the better that they stuck with this. Its what people have come to expect and love.
I agree with you there even though I don't think it took them any longer then with the GTA 3 games. I am happy enough that the PC version is confirmed and that we have a release date. It would be really sad if they decided not to go PC anymore for whatever reason!
Weird title. Its pretty much an untouched territory but I am not sure cooking and gaming combine well this way.
What feature of the game are you look (others as well) forward to the most? What do you think really makes this M.M.O. stand out?
Killing enemies with a critical hit can soak your character in blood (in the current build). This does not fall in the "wow look" category in my opinion.
Apart from that: its earth, not the deep chambers of hell so green plants and drinkable water should still be available ;)
@Kalos: Thanks. I remember how happy I was with my Geforce Ti4600 back in the days ;) Good thing is that it looks like both my laptop (GF 8 Mobile thingy) and PC (7900GTX) will be able to run this beauty without to much problems.
