Seriously? PS3 and 360 were neck and neck and 360 would have pulled ahead if it weren't for RROD and paid online.
This is exactly what I've been saying. Nintendo isn't going to go out with no games in winter and get slaughtered by PS4.5/X1.5 for no reason. That extra 5 months is so they have a competent lineup.
I'm expecting a TON of games unlike Wii U's anemic launch:
-SSMB4NX
-Zelda NX
-Mario Kart 8 Remaster or Splatoon Remastered
-Mario Kart 9 also a possibility
-New Mario 3D entry or Luigi's Mansion 3
-Tons...
360's vision was second to none. Great developer support, bolstered fps and online, multimedia capabilities, IMO the better ui, my favorite controller, mostly better graphics, etc. It was definitely my favorite, but I'm going PS4 this gen. Xbox had a winning formula but they definitely fucked it up with Kinect.
If it weren't for paid online and RROD 360 would have trashed PS3 last-gen.
I'm betting all of Wii U's originally planned exclusives for 16-17 are now NX titles. Hoping to see some of them at launch.
@Hitoemi
I'm not saying they need to be different, I'm saying that they need an identity. Xbox and PS4 have one, why not Nintendo? Wii U's problem at launch were there were no games to separate it from the pack. They need 3rd party support, but if they have no 1st party, why the hell even release the console? They're screwed if they do a winter launch with no 1st party games- they'll be nothing to market, people won't know what it is, and even if...
I've actually got a good feeling about NX. Since they're waiting until after the holidays and PS4.5/X1.5 I'm thinking they're releasing competent hardware this time and want to have a good launch line-up ready in springtime.
For one, they know they've got mid-gen competition in upgrade consoles from competitors, and for two, they're waiting on 14nm FinFet processors. This means they're willing to wait for power, and can hopefully use that ext...
What the hell are you talking about? That's EXACTLY my point. NX needs to define themselves as something different from X1/PS4/Wii U and the best way for them to go about that is release in springtime, so they have a competent launch line-up and don't have to market against PS4/Xbox. A winter launch is suicide, they'll have no games, they'll get caught up with X1/PS4 marketing, and nobody will know what the console is about. They'll be dead on arrival. A spring launch...
Actually I think this is a good thing, with the rumored X1.5/PS4.5 this winter and I'm sure a ton of games, Nintendo should really stay away from their competition. This extra time is probably also used getting a competent launch together which will allow them better marketing and brand definition, moving away from Wii/WiiU.
@disagree, really, a downvote? Is the reality of Nintendo preparing a venture back into the mainstream market such a bad thing? If you don't like Nintendo, that's fine and your opinion, but seriously, a downvote? Some trolls have no life.
I'm betting it's because those games are now launch titles for NX. They want to make sure NX has a launch with a bunch of exclusives so they can differentiate from PS4/X1/Wii U, which is also a reason in delaying past winter 2016. Launch line-up and marketing will do Nintendo well if they wait for March 2017.
Not sure if you all have been following, but his article series is making a case on why every FF numbered entry is the best in the series. This is just number 7, but next week he'll be doing another for 8.
Now, that said, I believe 7 to be the best because of it's politics. A group of ecology supporting terrorists and their anti-corporate extremist action to stop a mega-corporation, the Shinra Empire, climate change, and end inequality.
Although...
There are upsides and downsides.
The main downside I can think is that they'll have you pay twice for the best system, but could have easily just had a more powerful system to begin with.
Consider paying $399 at launch and another $399-499 for the Neo, that's $800-900.
Now imagine if they just would release a higher spec console option at launch for $499-599
You'd save $200-300.
If they're goi...
Man, mad sour. I'll admit, ND games are not my cup of tea, but damn, to go on lying about them? I played 360 exclusively last-gen and can admit, I'm kinda jelly ND has the best looking game this gen. But I won't go on lying about them. The graphics are phenomenal and probably one of the fullest experiences out there. Not my style but it's great for people who like those types of games. I kinda wish S-E would get some help from ND for FFVIIR. Chances are nil, but it'...
@JackStraw
Seriously, asking them to update when it's meaningful rather than mid-gen is asking for too much? I'd rather see FULL upgrades, and not half-steps. And that's totally feasible.
Also, you don't know how NEO is going to be marketed. If it's marketed towards higher framerate for VR, and nex-gen goes 1080p60, there may BE no need for PS5.5. Don't be so hasty here, PS5 could be a golden age of gaming if it's +5x as powerful as ...
M$ have also obviously been struggling with power this gen IMO. A new console will allow them some breathing room for creativity. No reason why metacritic should gauge if they need a new console. They obviously need one.
$300 for the NX and $400 for the Neo
NX is expected to be PS4-OG level and Neo is supposed to be more powerful.
I'm paying more for the more powerful system, and less for the less powerful one. No more costly gimmicks Ninty.
While I'm down to buy a PS4.5, I'm not really keen on the idea turning into a habit. PS5.5 and 6.5 would be shameless cashgrabs IMO. The only reason I'm willing to give PS4.5 a go is there are some games not hitting 1080p, 60fps, or even 30fps when needed. PS5 according to AMD will be 5x as powerful as current gen which is perfectly fine for 1080p60 though, so I really wouldn't like to see a PS5.5, rather, they need to shorten console generations to 5 years from now on, + o...
Scratch the Cell and I'll give ya a go.
If I had to compare the two I'd say Shimomura is a bit overplayed, like you can clearly tell when a song is meant to be dark, because it's playing to that notion actively. Trying too hard, and revealing itself. Uematsu is very underplayed. It's the elephant in the room, wandering, waiting. You might not understand the music the first time around, but it'll catch up to you, and overwhelm you in the end. Both are very good, and Shimomura works well with the scene aesthetic ...
I believe that's because RROD so 360 owners jumping ship and going to PS3, and also paid online. Tons of gamers chose PS3 purely because of the free online.
