I'm hoping it's that PS4-Neo has specs above the reported 4.14 TFLOPS, so we get some updated graphics in addition to the 60fps bump.
4.6+ TFLOPS would be so damn nice.
They did something like that with PS4 reporting it only had 4GB GDDR5 and then releasing with 8GB at launch. MS was not ready for that.
Neo, and then maybe Scorpio... I have a gaming PC though so Scorpio just all depends on how they implement things. If Halo 6 is console vs PC players you can count me out, but if they're console v console, perhaps I might pick one up.
It all matters when PS5 is released. It makes sense that they'd wait on the next node shrink to 10 nm or so for PS5, and we've just gotten 14nm so there's no telling when that will be. Definitely gonna have to wait until 2018-2019 for PS5.
That said, I'm hoping PS4-Neo gets a bump to around 4.6+ TFLOPS so not only will we get the FPS doubling, but some improved graphics as well.
@AmUnRa
That's the most legit rumor spec we've got, and it's not unlike the 6TFLOPS rumor for Scorpio which were later verified.
If you've been following my comments, you'd see I want Neo to get a better upgrade as well. The most recent specs say a 4.14TFLOPS console with a possible CPU upgrade as well, but that would increase price. I actually WANT them to include the cpu upgrade, regardless of the price. Whether it's $449-499 ...
Actually PS4 Neo is just over 2x as powerful as PS4 1.84TFLOPS compared to 4.14TFLOPS (about 2.1x as powerful)
And Scorpio is 4.5x as powerful as Xbox One.
Edit- Also, it's 50% more powerful than Neo, just as PS4 was 50% more powerful than Xbox One.
Even if it's the greatest difference in revision strength, it's still in the same league. It all matters on how Xbox markets it. If it allows new games not available on XB1, it's a nex-gen c...
I think it totally matters. In it's current rumored state Neo is about 2x as powerful as PS4-OG, which means most games will only get a fps doubling to 60 fps. I want the graphics to be improved also, which will require more power, so the rumored CPU upgrade is totally relevant to me. I'm hoping it gets added for 4.6-5 TFLOPS. I don't care about the price... $449-499 is fine with me.
Dat Vulpix... foxy.
Speak for yourself, 4k30 > 2k60 anyday.
Not that Scorpio can handle 4k30 while increasing graphics anyway... still got another gen to go for 4k gaming.
Simply put, you're math doesn't work out.
4 vs 6 TFLOPS
50% of 4 is 2. 2+4=6
It's a 50% increase.
Just like PS4 was 50% more powerful than Xbox One
Scorpio is 50% more powerful than PS4-Neo
Simple math, there is no 200% factor.
Actually that's another 50% increase. 50% of 4(Neo) is 2. 2+4(Neo)=6(Scorpio).
What I'm more worried about being a PS4-Neo interested buyer, is that it's nearly exactly 2x as powerful as PS4. That just means they'll double FPS to 60... That's not enough for me, I want more graphics too. I'm hoping NEO actually hits 4.6-5 TFLOPS...
I hope it takes Sony back to the drawing board- hopefully they can add that CPU upgrade that was rumored and increase power to 4.6-5 TFLOPS.
I just don't like the idea of the console being 2x as powerful, that means most of the time they'll just be doubling FPS to 60. I want better graphics first and foremost.
They should have a way to pit PC users using a controller against Xbox users because that's fair, but keep the mouse/keyboard users together also, because that's fair.
Personally I liked VII and IX better, and Tactics might tie with X. VIII seemed like a half-baked ripoff of VII, and I never played VI.
Overall I'd say IX ties with VII for current versions, but VII has more room for improvement so VIIR will likely edge IX out. Reasoning is that VII has a real-world bind like no other. The politics are very real with anti-corporatism, ecology, and self-identity.
X was great and I'm hoping they can eventually ...
Lol, supersampling? There's no way it's 4k native, so there will be no reason to downsample. Would be nice though.
4k scaling doesn't even make sense. 4k by nature is a perfect 4:1 scale. So 1080p is already scaled to 4k perfectly. That's why they chose 4k, it's perfect. A scaler is kind of redundant.
I think it's really sad. Could this gen use a boost? Absolutely. Plenty of games aren't hitting 1080p or 60 fps when needed. So in that way, a PS4.5 doesn't sound so bad. But the problem is this will continue into nex-gen, and we'll get PS5.5 when really, all of Nex-gen will be 1080p from the start. That will SUCK. it will turn gens into 7 year ordeals all in the name of half-step profits when really they should shorten gens to 5 years from now on.

Lol, yeah, that might make MS adjust the Scorpio before launch. I think Neo at 4.6 TFLOPS would be pretty reasonable for MS to stick with their 6 TFLOPS though, and not delay the console's release. I might buy both, but I'm more concerned about PS4-Neo's power. And the price increase is no object to me.
