I think both could, I stress the word, could offer a sub-$400 model, but they'd be relatively barebones, much like the WiiU option, a bigger more attractive bundle will seem like the natural decision here, with the entry level pricepoint set to grab a userbase swiftly.
I mean honestly, if I were comparing feature-for-feature, a PS4 and a Wii U, for the same price? The choice would be obvious if I wanted my money to really go the extra mile...subjectivity aside of course. ...
I'd say this comment was relevant more than a few years back.
One of the biggest moves this gen was Insomniac stepping away from their mutual partnership with Sony.
Kojima has put his brand loyalty aside for the greater good of releasing his projects to the masses, regardless of platform.
The only 3rd Party exclusivity that still lives and breathes in this day and age, is that bound by limited contractual obligation (timed), and DLC exclu...
No way in hell this IP would ever be exclusive to a single platform. Bethesda wouldn't dare take the solo quarter now when a dollar is inevitably in their future at the party.
The best exclusives? Hardly!
The best multi-platform releases for the majority of the gen? I think that's subjectively skewed by the developer and their ability. I've played plenty of multi-plat releases that were better on 360, sure. I've also played plenty of multi-plat releases that were, hands down, clearly winning the race on the PS3.
It's always better frame-rate here, or there. High-res textures here, or there. There was simply no consi...
These arguments are so ignorant. To compare the download of a much-demanded demo on a service (through the PS3) that was built, from the ground up, by a hardware manufacturer...to service on the PS4 that was built for the sole purpose of Cloud processing and data streaming (Gaikai on the PS4) is like discussing the similarities of apples and oranges.
What a horribly flat stance. One platforms issue has nothing to do with the others.
I love how their announcement about what they aren't going to be talking about is perceived as a winning gesture.
Look...you screwed up. Just move on and show us what the system can do and forget the whole TV/Sports/Sports TV/TV/TV/TV/Sports/Call of Duty crap.
It's isn't the cost..it's the perception of value. There is no reason why Sony can give you FREE online access to play with friends, while Microsoft spins it as a premium service. Right now, I keep my XBL sub for one thing only, and that's party chat. Even then, that reason is subjectively questionable.
Microsoft is charging me to unlock features.
Sony offers me an annual subscription, makes it optional, and on top of some cool service feature...
PC MMO's can play on current gen platforms, so I wouldn't see why not. A Realm Reborn FFXIV is hitting PS3 this holiday, not to mention DC Universe Online was a solid and relatively stable game marred only by an influx of players once it when F2P.
We also have games like Dust514 on PS3, which is more of an MMOFPS, and Defiance...also more of an MMOTPS.
Here's my problem with their numbers. They said 15 Exclusives, half of which would be new IP's...leaving the other half to sequels.
Let's be conservative here and simply say 7 are sequels. We all know that's one Halo, likely a new Gears, Forza, I'm betting on a couple returnees from the Kinect lineup; Dance Central and Sports. That leaves 2 (maybe 3 other sequels).
Now this isn't so much of a problem if it weren't for Microsoft'...
Perhaps they should be concise and not ambiguous, as they have been. They only have themselves to blame for this mess. It was handled poorly and now all the damage control looks to be made out of desperation.
E3 will be proving grounds for them.
My sentiments exactly. I read this, was confounded, and ultimately disappointed. I've been waiting for SEGA to bring this over so I could have them all on the PS3. I still have my originals, but I suppose I'll be importing the HD Collection now.
Passively interested...simply to see what rumors had weight, which were simply crap. I'm also looking forward to finally putting its specs up against Sony's.
That said, my 360 stopped being relevant years ago. I found it a struggle to put money into an ever-increasing focus of casual Kinect-heavy first party releases (the bulk of its focus it seems these past few years).
By technical merits, it isn't difficult to understand what the comment implies. The WiiU version will match, more closely, the PS3 & 360 versions.
Oh look, another overly critical review I can't agree with. I'm not sure which version you played, and I certainly won't argue that it's a technically perfect game, but what I played was enjoyable. I finished it solo with Kirk, and am currently playing co-op with a friend as Spock. I certainly see where it borrows its gameplay from other similar titles in the genre, but I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing.
As I said, I'm having fun with it...
What are you blind Bobby? Stop generalizing. There is NO question as to Sony's First Party support as evidenced by the February unveil, and we all know more is on the way. You may be concerned about Microsoft, and that's fine...but get your facts straight you douche!
Their marketing focus since its announcement would say they believe otherwise.
If the Kinect was supposed to be 360's secret weapon, then no...I don't believe illumiroom is "Infinity's" or "Durango's".
It's not for me anyhow.
Pretty harsh reviews.
As a Trek fan, I can't say that my expectations weren't unrealistic, but I somehow managed to keep them in check. In doing so, I was pleasantly surprised with the game. Equal measures Uncharted & Metroid Prime. Certainly not to their caliber, but enjoyable enough to say it may be the best Trek since, well, 25th Anniversary/Judgement Rites.
*shrug*
I picked this up on launch and as a Trek fan, I did my best to quell my anticipation. My expectations are always set high, but I somehow kept them rather modest.
That said, everything I had seen really screamed "Uncharted". All of the co-op aspects looked very much like Drake & Sully's interactions. Even the cover system and shooting mechanic looked similar.
I'm happy to say that, while on the heavily inspired side, Trek delivered. The l...
Why? They're masters of a craft that nearly all other developers ignore, or have put behind them. It's an art-form they excel at, and I welcome more of it!
