I'm not bitter, I'm stating an opinion and I'm also tracking the JRPG reception in North America for the 360. As a business man, this just doesn't make sense.
From Wiki about the reception of Blue Dragon in Japan
Microsoft and Mistwalker initially hoped to sell over 200,000 copies,[15] breaking their record for sales of an Xbox 360 game in Japan to date, but this has not yet taken place. Nonetheless, in a March 2007 interview with Gamespot, creator Hironobu Saka...
Watching this coupled with the Uncharted footage really has raised the bar in next gen graphics. I thought Mass Effect graphics were amazing but then I looked at the facial expressions and body movements. As cold as an ice cube.
Hey, I'm all for pretty graphics but its that line of realisim that I'm more interested as a gamer. Games today are more like a dynamic movie and I believe that we'll see exponential progression in realism in the PS3's third and fourth generation tit...
this title will go into Infinite mediocrity in sales in Japan for the 360. It will do much better here in the states. It will do about as well as Blue Dragon ... but then again, is the Xbox 360 audience a JRPG audience. I don't think it is.
as these PS3 exclusives keep rolling out, you'll see the PS3 difference. This is push third parties to start leveraging all the assets in the system
actually rumble was 2 gens ago. rumble + motion = this gen. Move on!
it will not have the same features as expected ... how else are they going to reduce costs?
surprise ... demo
Its time for us as society to move on. I work in NYC. We still remember but we have moved on.
remember, if FFVII is remade it will be released in Japan first (my guess). I agree that the unbankable stance is losing credibility every week. I'm sure Square would turn a profit but I believe they are expecting to swim in money like Iwata is with the Wii :)
While I'm a skeptic myself, let's look at the status of the PS3 in Japan. While Capcom is also promising a 'megaton' announcement, I don't think it will be at the scale of the announcement at the TGS and I believe Capcom is going to announce it later. I wonder why thye chose to announce it after TGS. Does Capcom know something we don't know?
Square, Konami, and Namco are the only three companies that have strong ties to Sony. Konami is already done with their pre-show confe...
they should rename Konami to Kojima. Even Zone Enders was an enjoyable PS2 experience. I'm looking forward to new stuff by Kojima but I certainly will miss his involvement in the Metal Gear series.
Rybnik's theory on why Square Enix would release a FFVII remake or new title sounds the most reasonable. FFXIII is their big title and their is no doubt about that. It is going to cost them the most, especially on the dev of the White Engine. Even if MS is helping to fund the dev of the enginge, it still doesn't guarantee that FFXIII goes multi-platform. I think Inifinite Undiscovery and Last Lemnant were the result of that deal.
Bottom line, PS3 needs a larger installbase ...

A price drop wouldn't hurt either ;)
just thinking about a God of War movie gives goose bumps. Get that dude from 300 to play Kratos. Jaffe ... you hear me you news board surfing freak. Get it done!
If God of War was turned into a movie, it would make the series more popular than Halo. Star Wars is beyond reach as not even the Lord of the Rings trilogy or Matrix could compete with it.
There are more discussions about the Wii than Halo in the casual world. So if you want to be the Star Wars of the video game business, you need to get your name out there. I think a Halo movie would do wonders for the franchise. The only thing interesting about the Halo series is Master Chief. The story is average at best and I'd challenge anyone to compare the stories of the God of War series to Halo.
He should be more careful. I guess like his passport he probably forgot that NFL 2K5 should be on the list of next backward compatible Xbox titles on the 360. Make it happen Major. Not sure if your responsibile for that but you always announce when there is a new update on Live for BC updates.
1080p at 60 fps ... online on a network which is virtually lag free ... downloadable too
PS3 going into overdrive in 2009. This also is in line with my personal forecast
Is a sales indicator for Square Enix on what possible reception Japan would give if they did another title in the FFVII world. I'm sure Square knows this and this gives more credibility in the 'rumored' announcement of a FFVII game for the PS3 (new or remake).
