I surprised by how you guys are surprised by the sales. It was projected to be this much. It did not exceed expectations. It has only met expectations.
20% sales increase is not substancial, coupled with an increase in PS3 sales makes this report of the Halo effect on par with respect to the Halo effect of Halo 2.
Expect the PS3 price drop/new SKU to cut into the potential sales of the 360 in November and even the last week of October sales.

Yet its only October of 07. Must be a legit reason why it would be delayed for over 2 months. Maybe its to get cross play with PC gamers worked out (it was an issue and to the point where it would be taken out).

That doesn't mean that Bungie has ceased to create content for the 360 franchise. Who knows, maybe Bungie will still create Halo franchise games for MS but as an independant.
Can someone confirm if Bungie is 100% owned by Microsoft? If so, they would never sell Bungie. If not, its easy to buy out of majority ownership from Microsoft. Its one thing to lose Bizzare to Activision. The PGR is their IP but like any car, its as good as its engine. Halo without Bungie is like Mario without Miyamoto.
This would send shockwaves if Sony's Big Bang announcement is that Bungie is now a supported developer along with the 399.99 SKU. This is of course speculation but think of the implications? I bet Bungie didn't want to end up like Rare.
Bungie non-MS now, October 12th Big Bang announcement. In order for Bungie to expand, they need to get out of the MS umbrella. It only makes sense as I would make the same move if I were Bungie CEO.

Actually, no it isn't. Why would an independant developer take sides? Just because he is taking a neutral stance does not mean that there is a stalemate in performance between the 360 and the PS3. Only blogs and forums have stated that the 360 is more powerful but even those arguments are baseless. In time, we will see who the winner is once developers tap into the system's resources.
If I were comparing potential of a system, I would be comparing first party versus first...

2. 360 at this point as better games.
Now, point number 1 is not flexible. Its non-negotiable. The PS3 is flat out more powerful and has more potential than the 360. The 360 has better games now. That is the truth. The PS3 will have its line of AAA titles.

I still believe that Bioshock will come to the PS3 in late 08. I do not believe that 2K is dumb enough to sign away publisher rights to the Bioshock franchise. MS has delivered on their software goals. Give credit to where credit is due. It is living up to the hype from a critics point of view. It very well might live up to the hype from a gamer's point of view.

I don't think this game is 100% targeted to a casual audience because I wouldn't put this game in the same category as Viva Pinata. This is a title driving their concept of user driven content. It should still appeal to gamers but at this point in time, it is NOT a system seller. It has been hyped but within the gaming comminity. It hasn't hit one of the targeted markets, the casual gamer.
