Hardly a "review". More like what I expected it to be: a meagre attempt at creating content meant to link you to a Let's Play series for an N64 game. The video game equivalent of reading someone's life story before they tell you how to make sugar cookies.

What is an immersive sim? A flavor of the week marketing tactic masquerading as genre definition, talking about FPS games with an offhand magic ability. But enough talk, have at you!

So the point Bruce made is that linear games are easier to make.

Is this even up for debate? Or are the internet pedants that triggered by such a matter-of-fact statement that they feel obligated to shout their irrelevant opinions onto message boards across the internet?

I regularly criticize the state of games journalism for being too formulaic on a good day, and utter trash on a bad day. Reporting on such insignificant backlash has gotta be soul crushin...

@obscure_observer

always take Kojima's hyperbole with several thousand grains of salt. He famously said DS was a new game genre. Turns out it was a 3rd person action game with asynchronous multiplayer. Still fun and engaging, but not really as innovative as he was pitching it.

Phil never put a ring on it. Kojima is his own publisher. I think he holds most of the leverage, and in this case Xbox wanting their own Kojima exclusive is exactly the reason why he won't spank him.

Hideo Kojima is one of the most photographed people in the games industry. And this is the picture they went with. Great look for your website, vgchartz!

I'm not sure what's more pathetic: the state of games journalism, or the same 30 people commenting on every single article that remotely hints at motions toward equality. You guys really like reinforcing the stereotype that gamers are just angry incel dudes.

To be fair, I wouldn't expect the Kremlin to be johnny-on-the-spot inspecting every single video game that comes out ensuring it has just enough state-sponsored propaganda. They didn't even know that their military was using 50 year old rusted AKs.

The article isn't about petty insults online, it was about racist depictions of humans in a video game. Nice false equivalency though.

"Taking offence on someone's behalf".

Funny, where I come from, it's called objecting to bad taste. You can be offended by racism without being the target of it.

"Very 2023"? Bruh, in 2012 people made the same statement. You're neither on the cutting edge of this discourse nor does it make you seem enlightened. In fact, it just makes you seem like you're defending racist caricatures. Not a great plan.

When did Blizzard last break a sales record? Generally, you have to put out games to do that. Considering every single game they publish is F2P these days aside from whatever WoW expansion they cook up, I don't think they care about units shipped anymore.

Truth is, the only reason why Blizzard is in business is because of MTXs, CoD being a flagpole IP for AB, and the vast majority of the gaming community not following game journalism whatsoever. Most people buy a game b...

I dunno. They might run out of digital copies on PC. And we all know that Blizzard doesn't really make copies of their games in enough quantities for console gamers. Maybe we should all pre-order Diablo IV. It's gonna be twice as good as Diablo II and 1.3333333333333333333333333333 33333 times as good as Diablo III. Math doesn't lie.

With the negative press this game has been getting, seeing unironic articles highlighting battle passes and character skins seems super surreal. I hope that DC fans aren't disappointed.

Yeah, the survival genre, it's almost there, no one has really done it well yet, but if they keep trying, anything's possible!

Because the first Forest was PC only, and it was a bad game. Why would anyone want to the play the sequel? Yuck!

1208d ago 0 agree4 disagreeView comment

I don't see where the gamble you mention resides. Were you previously just spending money without doing any kind of research on the thing?

1208d ago 0 agree2 disagreeView comment

Just like in most markets, if people keep buying, the sellers'll keep selling.

Fed up with shitty PC ports? Try watching even a single review for the game you're about to throw $60-80 at blindly. It's 2023 and we still have to tell people to stop pre-ordering digital copies of games and to check out reviews. At the very least, you should know who's publishing the game. Expecting a quality PC port from From or Square is just tomfoolery.

The headline suggests in no small way that they would be discussing a big plot twist.

This is capitalism we're talking about. Quidditch DLC is gonna happen. Which is neat because it's just like in the books, despite attending Hogwarts, you gotta pay galleons to play competitively.
