Call me old, call me a stick in the mud, call me whatever you want. I'm kind of happy to be skipping this generation on console. From the lack of available units causing rampant scalping, to a small handful of exclusives, to the abject lack of collectibility of any of the games due to no game data on discs and always online DRM.....yeah, am I supposed to be excited for the haptick triggers?

I'll happily play this game on PC.

In several years we'll all be griping about how overused this art style is.

I'm sure the 2 people that are playing Mario Party Superstars are going to be gutted over this.

It wasn't meant to be a brand new MP title. It was literally supposed to be a greatest hits. It barely has more mini games than your average MP and far fewer boards. The existence of any other MP game from 1-8 renders MPS obsolete.

When does a remake become fanfiction?

"How much did gamers save on *(PS3)* by not having to buy an HDMI system..."

they meant 360.

Maybe we can go a while without a new Halo. Allow Microsoft to regroup, focus more on some new original IPs, come back in 5 years with a banger of an announcement trailer for a completely reworked Halo that checks all the boxes. Gamers will rejoice and Xbox can actually attract gamers to their platform once the GP plateau hits.

Working at EB Games smack dab in early gen 7, I recommended Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey to SO many people, with not much interest. Trouble wasn't exposure (at least anecdotally), trouble was the average Xbox customer was already not a JRPG fan. Look at the original Xbox, how many RPGs in general did it have let alone JRPGs? Microsoft filled the niche that Sega occupied, which wasn't very JRPG heavy either.

Oh yeah, I forgot. Racism didn't exist until George Floyd and BLM discovered it. None of what Capcom put in the game, not the ugly stereotypes, not the cartoonish depiction of AAVE, could have been construed as racist in 2002.

/s

I still respect them for at least owning it now, and leaving the games unaltered. Better to educate about racial prejudice through historical examples in the right context. Battle Network is really underrated.

Diablo 4 is almost a punchline after the teensy little PR downturn that Blizzard has been experiencing for the last decade.

Different subset of gamers primarily use Playstation vs Xbox. Playstation users are more likely to buy physical copies of games, hence digital only service won't be seen as favorably as it is on Xbox, where the entire point is to own nothing and stream CoD and Fifa all day long.

Underrated? How so? A Raspberry Pi 3b+ (and probably earlier models too) can emulate essentially every single last PS1 game at full speed. People are emulating Switch and PS3 currently, which I would be surprised if the PS5 couldn't emulate those. PS4 should be able to handily emulate everything up to gamecube/ps2/og xbox.

Games journalism is such AIDS. It's easy to get clicks when you write objectively incorrect bullshit.

If you despise Blizzard, why is a DDOS attack so repugnant to you?

Games journalism really trying its hardest.

RE 1,2,3,4 have all been remade now, 7 and 8 are relatively brand new games, everyone hated 6, so the only popular RE games left to remaster are Code Veronica and 5. Every other game in the series is too niche to be taken seriously as a re-release.

Welcome departure from what exactly? FF hasn't been turn based since 2001.

Surprised no one else has mentioned that Nintendo was huge for publishing insanely hard games on the NES/SNES because they were trying to get you to subscribe to Nintendo Power, call the Nintendo 1900 help line, or buy the strategy guide.

And in the case of rental stores like Blockbuster, had actual deals with companies like Disney Interactive to make their games harder so that you'd have to rent the game multiple times.

Go back to the Xbox/PS2/Gamecube, tell me, aside from the inclusion of online multiplayer, what, gameplay-wise, has changed since that era? How the player character accepts a quest? This is a controversial question to most people who aren't paying attention.

When you say 10-20, I definitely feel it's closer to 20. Red Faction had destructible environments in the early 00s.

"Gaming's Unbalanced Obsession"

idk about all that. It's not that much of a head-scratcher to guess that RE4 Remake was going to sell well, when the original is one of the most successful games of all time and has already been re-released a dozen or so times. Who's obsession is it? Gamers wanting to play an all but guaranteed excellent game, or publishers/devs deciding the most cost effective way to make even more money is to sell us something familiar...
