As I understand it they compare Home to the whole of Xbox Live + online games like FPS's and Casual games.... and cite Home as lacking. Not mentioning the cost of Live and also say that PS3's internet capability is "moribund" while not pointing out the complete lack of a browser on the Xbox.

They then go on to call Xbox titles like ODST and ME2 "compelling" and suggest that PS3 lacks "compelling" titles - I think it's fair to say the biggest platform...

I guess he's referring to the Lens of Truth article. They gave the nod to the PS3 this time round. While it was "close" the differences are much clearer with this than some of the other multi-plats.

Grid and DiRT are not things that people who like GT5 want - Grdi/DiRT are arcade games and the damage modelling is appalling even though they look good graphically.

GT5 is supposed to be a simulator - so the damage should be tuneable and at it's most realistic level give realistic results. If a tap of a car or barrier damages the suspension of the car to the point it's undriveable, that is perfect - particularly online - because then you have to drive realistically.

I hope that is the case - if only because, from the limited vids we've seen so far - things like wall riding and using other cars as brakes are still viable tactics.

I had hoped accurate damage modelling would stop or at least limit those techniques.

Personally I'd be happy to hear that all cars can be affected by damage, even if nothing is shown graphically.

Things that you see on a car - doors and fenders hanging off for example, are obvious damage eye...

than Forza - quite comfortably. This is a cam from a TV so hardly the best source material. As for sense of speed - well GT has always been about realism - and that's how fast those cars go. Just compare cams from reality with GT vids - they're near identical.

It works quite nicely in GT5P - don't see why the full release should be any different.

There is a much more worrying thing though - the damage modelling doesn't look right in this. First off, the road cars don...

Um - are you seriously trying to say that PSN has some kind of general problem compared to other online services?

Can't be - that would be ridiculous, and demonstrate such a dire lack of knowledge of online gaming that I wouldn't bother responding!

EDIT : Oh wait, are you the person who wrote this blog entry? Well, maybe that explains both the entry and your comment.

What about the BF'43 on Xbox live, or the Gears issues - or the lack of live a couple of Christmasses ago?

Or L4D on Xbox and PC, or Demigod or... well you get the picture.

Hardly spsecific to PSN is it? Fanboy bloggin' ftl.

Edge perhaps stick to reviewing games in the context of their platform.

So Rolando 2 is a good iphone game, and gets a score which represents that. However, that score cannot be compared to a game on a different platform - for example Wii,Xbox,PS3 because they're not iphones!

Taken this way, a score of say 6 for a Wii/Xbox/PS3 game does not mean it's worse than Rolando 2, it just means that the Wii/Xbox/PS3 is capable of and should deliver more.

This is as close as we'll get to directly comparing a platform exclusive game on two different platforms!

Unlike the normal multi-plat port (minimal work/make it look the same on all plats) this game had heart and soul poured into the 360 version by Itagaki, and then made again for the PS3 by those left behind when he left/was fired.

Perhaps for the first and maybe only time, we can directly compare what each console is capable of when games are developed exclusively...

Ninja Gaiden..... Other difference is that xbox cannot afford to lose 3rd party exclusives with such a weak first/second party line up, while PS3 still has plenty of first/second party stuff in hand.

Not to mention that Splinter Cell is not an xbox exclusive franchise - more SC games have appeared on non-xbox platforms than on the xbox itself.

"Hey MS, we hear you like to buy games - show us some money!!!"

Maybe they have concerns about how they'd deploy suitable servers on xbox Live. Maybe.

I imagine the quickest way to get these into peoples hands is to patch existing games to use them.

Probably be a while before we see a killer app for the Sony or MS stuff - if at all.

The E3 demo didn't really set the world alight.

A big whoop when it became clear a full 256 person game was to be demo'd but then, well, a whole lot of not much really.

Seems like the world just isn't ready for 256 people to try and play a real time action game together. Resistance did about as good a job as I've seen with larger numbers but all in all, it's not the number of players that makes the game fun.

Over and above the the technical conquest of g...

Well you are looking at the xbox-specific history of Splinter Cell - however, SC has had a greater number of non-Xbox brand releases given it's appearance on GBA, DS, Wii, GC, PS2 and PC plus some other mobile stuff.

Factor those into your averages and the score drops - these non-xbox releases are either poor or reviewed more harshly given the history of Splinter Cell depending on your point of view.

Splinter Cell lived and died on the first version because it was a ...

This is a series that was big on the original Xbox (couldn't be done on PS2 was the claim) which then came out on PS2...

Problem is, since the first Splinter Cell it's gradually gotten worse - and as the sales drop off Ubi have tried to change the formula and make it a big game again.

Without some kind of exclusivity this game and probably the whole series disappears - particularly after the rewrite. If it's a big hit, Ubi can look at porting as with the original, in...

Gabe Newell said last year about L4D :

He said: "One of the things that we're doing is we seem to be in a transition between games as a package product and games more of a service. So if you look at Team Fortress 2, one of things that's really helped grow the community is the continuous updates, where we release new maps, new character classes, new unlockables, new weapons. And we tell the stories about the characters, like the meet the sniper, or meet the sandwich. And that...

And entirely out of character in terms of their PC game history.

I have a feeling that MS needed an exclusive to bolster their E3 and Valve complied by turning what would have been normal L4D updates into L4D2 just to provide something to talk about.

As it is, L4D isn't one of Valve best releases and still has problems so an L4D2 is a kick in teeth.

Personally, if it's more of the same then I'll pass - the only possibility is that this hasn't been talked...

for the 360, it's difficult to take this or any "serious" racing games seriously on the xbox.

Not sure why MS haven't splashed some money to get a decent wheel peripheral produced - they used to have a pretty solid lineup in the sidewinder range and just let it all go.

Well, it's a waste of time but this is such an easy target I may as well just for my own satisfaction:)

"Lol man, France alone already got more people in it then the UK.
(65 Million)

Australia got 22 M people, Czech 10 M, Spain 46 M, and you say many of those got small populations, yeah right.
Did you know the UK got 60 million people ? "

I said many of the countries listed had quite small populations. Using your own figures (I t...
