Novelty games are like that - was similar with Wii Sports. For the first few days you can't imagine ever getting bored until, you just don't play it anymore.
Then, when the same mindless party games get released over and over you just don't bother buying them at all since you've done it all before.
5/10 is a low score though - sites should score it a bit higher to keep the resale values of used units up for a while. Otherwise the early adopter...

There have been a few vids on YT now - those AFAIK are all from the Arcade mode.
I think it's been known for some time that the damage modelling (both visual and mechnical) was variable depending on the chosen settings just like the physics model.
Although I doubt GT5 includes extreme accuracy in damage - it's just not PD's ethos to have the cars be destroyed and undrivable.

Why not just stop the race for yourself if you crash that hard?
For me there are only 3 levels of damage representation required visually - no damge, some damage, heavy damage.
The only reason I want those is so that when I'm overtaking someone online, I know whether they're having car handling problems or not.

It's a choice because each car takes so long for PD to model to premium standard.
It doesn't matter what car it is, it still takes about 6 months for them and that assumes they can get access and licensing for the car in the first place.
So, given it takes 6 months and let's say they have the manpower to do 3 simultaneously (for a DLC pack - I guess the majority of the team are moving on to GT6 now).

Wow - that is an embarrassing article.
I think GT5 is going to be bigger than anyone expected - at least in terms of initial sales. Perhaps some of these publications are genuinely nervous that their readership will be reduced by people picking up PS3s for GT5.
Of course, there will also be a big backlash come December, January - GT5 is going to be an easy target for the "one more car" or "one more track" people.

BE CAREFUL HERE:
The Logitech G27 is a very nice wheel/pedal/shifter combo but there is doubt as to whether it will work with GT5.
In GT5P the shifter and paddles don't work for example - so you have to map gear changing to the wheel buttons. Oddly the clutch pedal works if you press Triangle during the race start - an undocumented feature....
The last I heard this same restriction may also be in GT5.
