Only a dunce would say things like that. And yes while they are making billions they are also spending billions. Piracy doesn't not speak well for the long term existance of the console. Who know, piracy may be the reason a good game for the Wii only gets released every 3 months. Nothing more attractive to 3rd party developers than their software getting hacked and stolen.
The truth is, unless it has a controller I don't want it. What is funny is 6 months from now, when microsoft releases a controller with motion and tilt sensors for 30$ people will talk about how cheap it is. Without a motion controller of some sort, or at least a controller that is designed to be more convieient to move with than a XBOX360 controller, this control method will fail for real game. Only an microsoft fanboy would deny this.
Actually, I would say it doesn't have enough reserved ram for OS task as opposed to the physical amount of ram being the issue.

Its not that the ps3 can't multitask. It can and is actually really good at it. It is that XMB was not desigined with that in mind, hence why in game xmb looks like a hack and cross game chat will probably never happen. That is unless they redesign xmb, which they may be in the process of doing.
Not sure what multi player sign in has to do with multi-tasking though.

I am not concerned with its price at all. Its affordable if I wanted it. I just don't want something that is flawed in concept. This clearly is and will go down as the next virtual boy. System on chip solutions would do away with the AGP/PCIx bus. That would be nice because it would increase the communication throughput between the two devices. I wonder what the memory control structure will be like concidering that GPUs usually have to communicate with several extrenal DRAMs.
Releasing half working products works much better with software than hardware. Maybe they will luck out and any issues they have will be able to be fixed through firmware updates. If some issues are truly hardware problems, the only solution to truely fix it is a recall. As the creators of iPhone 4.

acky1 (the especially American) thing always pisses me off. I have been to Europe. It certianly isn't the meeting of the minds over there. For the most part in Europe its the meeting of lazy people in coffee shops smoking cigarettes and talking about how much longer they can put off reality that people need to work to survive before it comes crashing down in there face.

You clearly never owned a dreamcast. Hackers ended my fun. Sure people got to play some games they didn't buy, but it sucks when a system stops getting supported and one of the main reasons (not the only one mind you) was hackers.
It matters a whole lot less if it is hacked near the tail end of the life cycle than at the begining.
I you go 5 years without being hacked you have done a good job. If they can complete the life cycle then its a huge win. No one cares anymore if you can hack a sega dreamcast, because that is an 11 year old machine. You don't have to make something hackproof, though that would be nice. You just need to make it take a long time to figure out and hope for it to be incovinient (pcb hacks).
I am sure at some point the ps3 will be hacked. But if it isn't easy it isn...
Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 were great for their time. And they have held up really well over time graphicly. But honeslty, they can't hold a candle to most games released on any system be it PC, PS3 or the XBOX360.
The PSP is for the most part dead.
