I have always thought this is a good idea. At the end of the day you didn't make the games and the developers have a right to turn a profit. If you don't like it either don't pay for it or start developing your own competing hardware platform and form a software development team. Sony, Microsoft, EA, THQ, they aren't making games because they enjoy providing entertainment for you, they are making games to make money. Shut up or grow up.

I have enjoyed maybe 4 games on the Wii tops. No system has ever been a bigger waste of money for me. And I bought a sega saturn!

Thank you thieves and hackers for forcing government and business to protect itself. Its always a small few who ruin things for everyone.

I am a computer engineer. The reason the in game XMB is so cluncky is that they are doing transfers from RAM to the Hardrive to load the xmb icons. There is not enough reserved ram space during game play for a few simple bitmap icons, you honestly think that implementing a audio streaming program with that amount of limited ram resources would be easy. Of course they could implement cross game chat. That is of course if they had enough foresight to reserve the necessary amount of ram for ...

Kinect's technology is impressive, not it's implementation. I think the move is impressive in the fact that it is simple and it works.

This is a technical problem. I don't think people have respect for how hard it is to implement something on a system that was never intended to function in that way. XMB was not designed as a multitasking OS. That is the reason there is no cross game chat and its the reason in game XMB feels so slow and clunky. I can't believe they were ever able to get in game XMB to work to be honest.

"Can Nintendo control 3rd parties? NO thats just silly. Last time they tried that, they all flocked to Sony and the PS1. Most of the shovelware on Wii people cry about is also on PS2, but you probably never cried about that."

Dude they flocked to sony and PS1 because nintendo used a 64mb cartage format that was both limited in storage space and severely reduced profit margin. That is a well known fact. As far as the Wii, their default control structure has a lot t...

I am more interested in them addressing three issues they currently have. Are they going to address the lack of 3rd party games that don't make you vomit? Are they going to address their declining quality of 1st party games, which quite frankly just aren't what they used to be. Are they going to implement a real online gaming interface like PSN or Xbox live.

If the answer to any of these is no then I am going to have to pass.

Working in hardware/software design I can tell you that implementation is easy, verification is what is difficult. I would say for any given project that I work on 20% of the work is implementation and 80% is verification.

1889? Wow, that must of been pretty advanced for back then. To bad there were no TV or speakers to connect it to.

I don't see how?

I don't even think that was the issue waynekerr. I think the issue was the design of the OS and the amount of available memory the OS can access during gameplay. As they reduce the footprint of the OS they give more room for features such as in game XMB. Over the years they may of finally reduced the OS's memory footprint to the point where running a concurrent chat program is feasible.

I of course could be off, but looking at the headache in game XMB is and they w...

I work as a computer engineer in research in development. Doing hardware design is not like software design. It requires much more planning, testing and most of all capital investment to get a product like that to work. I wouldn't be surprised if they started architecting ps4 in 2007.

What are the protesting? Sony's right to design video game hardware and sell it for a profit? I am so confused by their f'd up point of view.

Are you a engineer? If not, you probably wouldn't understand the answer anyway so why ask the question. It is amazing how little respect people have for the amount of work it takes to get something to work. Like the decades of work on protocols, electrical physical interfaces, and high level software it takes just to send an email.

What makes me angry is of all the systems, the PS3 is the most open. It supports pretty much any usb peripheral, a standard hard drive, even for a while you could run an alternative OS (until the hackers killed that).

Microsoft are a bunch of nazi's and no one targets them.

How dare sony want to turn a profit on hardware and software they produce? What a bunch of evil bastards. This is leftist thinking at its worst.
