Confirmed PS3 fanboy. Um a stereo camera with an inferred sensor? Its not eaxctly like these are flying of the assembly line all over the world. You obvioulsy know nohting about economy of scale.
But BulletSponge? No matter what Kinect costs it isn't going to change the fact that, though its great technology, it is in no was suited for gaming. Not without some form of controller. I think most fans know this and just don't want to admit it. Sure Microsoft could release a controller for it, but that is going to increase the cost.
Do go saying, well you could just use the xbox360 controller. If you believe that, then you clearly never played a sixaxis game o...
Well you will be 50 by the time you get to enjoy 3d them most likely. Glasses are going to be a part of the equation for some time to come.
Ironicly, if anyone decided to boycott these products and the boycott was effective the "evil corperations" would leave these areas of the world and many of these people would starve or be much worse off. Just pointing that out.
The whole concept of star wars is stupid. Everytime I see a jedi I just want them dead. I cheer for the clones!
You have to start somewhere. I think this is an academic exersise more than anything.
Wow, hacker. You are truely and idiot and you won't even take the time to hide it. Good for you man. Maybe parents should rethink telling kids "to be themselves".
Neither Quake 3 Arena or Unreal Tournament? Wow.
When will people learn that the starting price just doesn't matter. They will both be cheaper in a year. The point isn't to make it cheap enough for everyone to buy day one. The point is to milk as much money for the demand as you can. So if they think they can charge 150$ without having them sit on the shelves than they will.
Lets say it costs 150$ to produce and they sell it at 100$. Lets say they sell 3 million. Well 3 million * $50 = 150 million dollars lost. Not good business if you ask me. I really don't see the payoff either. Its not going to spark many additional 360 sales and the additional software sales will not be enough to offset the loss.
There is no way this will be less than 150$ if the production cost hold where they are.
What is the big deal. Well at least with Move. It looks like any move game the move controll is meant to be optional, minimizing risk for them. At least according to what sony said at E3. I see move getting large scale support this way.
Rico from Killzone 2. What an ass.
I can solve this problem. Find a few of the biggest pirates that you can find. Arrest them, put them on national television and shoot them in the head on live TV. Say, anyone else found stealing anything for any reason will meet the same fate. I am a big fan of the example, works every time. I think most problems could be solved like this. Inner city school violence, drug use, unemployment. The list goes on and on.
Theonik,
So people can pirate the good games as well?
Sure, but where would be the motivation to build cars if everyone is downloading them for free.
You assume that Kinect won't require some form of specalized controlle at some point. To actually play games that matter with this thing they are at least going to have to have some form of controller that you can move with.
Unless you want to run in place and say bang bang in order to play halo that is.
I wish someone would explain to me how a core game would work with it? I mean it wouldn't be convienient to wave your arms around and then pickup your XBOX360 controller to hit a button, then put it down and wave your arms around again.
They need to design a controller that is convienent to move with like the PS Move or Wii. This will unfortunatly increase the price and kill their biggest claim.
But no less true.
evrfighter,
Yes you are the only one.
"this is what gaming has come to
counting polygons and who wins
sad"
Since I did my thesis on developing graphics hardware on FPGAs I can say counting polygons and coming up with ways to increase the number of polygons on a screen at one time can be quite fun.
I am sorry you have no interest in the time and effort that goes into creating a realistic gaming experience. Especailly from the hardware side.
