Well sh!t, man, ASK HIM!
I bought the game simply because I'm a fan of the Alien movies. I'm enjoying the game well enough so far.
Yeah man, rent the game and see for yourself if you like it. Not every game has to totally perfect, it just has to be fun for you.
Syronicus totally hit the nail on the head. I didn't expect AvP to be a great game, but I'm a huge fan of the Alien movies, so I bought the game without giving it a second thought, poor reviews or not.
I always see FEAR make these lists and it's just stupid. I think I could count the scary "boo" moments on one hand. And even then, those moments are usually telegraphed in the game by having a save point right before something freaky happens. Don't get me wrong, it's a decent shooter, but a scary game in the top ten it ain't.
^ That Cthulhu game is excellent. The one sequence early in the game where you have to run from hotel room to hotel room and locking doors behind you is one of the most intense sequences I've ever played in a game.
Oh, so not right away, but later on in the game the outcome of that fight (f'rinstance) will come into play within the story? That's pretty cool. For a second there I thought I could just eat a sandwich while the main character gets his butt kicked and then continue on with the story without any repercussions.
It appears as though the outcome is still the same, regardless of how well you do in the fight (that outcome being the bald guy leaves and your character is left alone with the woman). Does anything of any real significance happen story-wise if you perform poorly in these action sequences?
I suck at duel-wielding, so this is good news for me. :P
Ordered.
Bungie are some smart mofos. They know what they're doing.
I think maybe mentioning Alan Wake is just a way to help make the article relevant on an Xbox site. I don't know. I'm glad to hear the game can have such a profound effect on people.
@ FangBlade, what's weird about that statement? I don't understand what you mean.
If I were to ever get a PS3, Heavy Rain would be a big, BIG reason for me doing so. I hope the game does really well!
@ Antti: You're right, that's cool. The LE cover is similar, but with some small cool changes like you mentioned. I do like the LE better, and I'm getting that one anyways.
Hahaha!
Are they saying that "Where's everyone going? Bingo?" isn't clever?
/sarcasm
I think the box art is fine. Simple. Classy.
I'd rather have something like this than a tired old collage featuring the main character with a gun! the sexy girl! the comic relief sidekick!
I'm sure Capcom is heartbroken that they'll have to hold back some things only for them to release it as paid DLC later. Capcom's laughing all the way to the bank, if you ask me.
And if it bugs people so much, vote with your dollars and don't buy the game. I'm not going to, mainly just coz I didn't think the first one was anything to get excited about in the first place.
It's truly outrageous!

Maybe will AvP doing well, and with Gearbox's upcoming Colonial Marines game, there may still be a future for an Aliens RPG, like the one Obsidian had been working on. Fingers crossed!
