What? I always thought RE5 had fake controversy because it was set in South Africa and you shot a bunch of black zombies. I live in South Africa and thought the game was absolutely awesome, played the whole thing co-op with my brother.

@Foxtrot I think you're confusing the garbage Dead Space 3 with Resident Evil 5. Resident Evil 4 was already a hyper action game and had zero fear factor other than the grotesque appearance of some enemies.

@attilayavuzer Did you join the comments section to self-own yourself? You cannot make the comment that Microsoft is struggling along with the rest in the same year that they spent almost HUNDRED BILLION on buying up publishers that already release games on their platform, INSTEAD of investing in their own developers, in the creation of new games, in sustaining their studios or creation of new technology to bolster the Xbox brand, or to prevent layoffs.

They are the worst o...

"Capitalism is the problem"

Also spends almost a hundred billion on owning third party publishers that release their games on his platform anyway instead of investing in new games, new studios and their current studios.

Exactly! If that's the case then the original Resident Evil 2 is utter trash because the remake surpasses it and that style of game is dead. I didn't know we got to a stage where we retroactively bash art by ignoring the era it released in, what it achieved at the time and available technology when it came out.

How about the lesson that most of these publishers and developers haven't learned:

Quality > quantity
Substance > size
Hand crafted missions > procedurally generated quests

How is it that Arkham City, a game from 2011, or Middle Earth from 2014, understands better how to craft a living breathing world filled with substance than the OGs of world building?

It's obvious to anyone who isn't an Xbox fan that Microsoft isn't a gaming company, not with the shockingly bad track record you mentioned. Whilst Nintendo and Sony continue to deliver GOTY level games or reinvent their IPs to stay fresh or release new IP or grow their studios, Microsoft simply wants to profit off ownership and subscriptions. Xbox fans have just taken a generation and a half to realise that Microsoft does nothing for gaming or developers, because they're too b...

Yes, I actually prefer it to Elden Ring and Dark Souls. Love it together with Sekiro.

I'm holding out for a remake or 60fps dream before I replay Bloodborne, but there's no nostalgia attached to how good this game is.

He's the head of Xbox because Microsoft isn't a gaming company and they haven't done anything for gaming in more than a decade. They're a parent company looking to buy more kids to raise as investments. They will profit off ownership, off their games releasing on other platforms, because they can't create anything themselves. Slowly they'll make Xbox as a console completely irrelevant under the mantra of play anywhere. That's why Phil is still there. He shares thei...

Let's review some highlights:

- "21 exclusives" E3
- Games Pass taking priority over creating games
- Game Pass reaching a plateau before expectations and boasting "value" over any first party quality releases
- Billions of dollars spent on publisher acquisitions that haven't managed to shift any Xbox unit sales, thus the smokescreen before beginning the long journey of multi platform releases for their games to increas...

@Mojolupe That read like the after credit plot twist in a Metal Gear Solid game.

Correct, the Arkham games brought superheroes into the mainstream and still influences games to this day, like Spider-Man and Middle-Earth. Sunset Overdrive obviously just gave them the groundwork for their parkour and sandbox toolkit.

But Phil is gonna Phil.

Sunset Overdrive was not a game Sony was interested in, it doesn't fit their MO, and they were right as it wasn't that successful. I played it, it was sort of fun but really wasn't Insomniac's best work. But obviously as a creator you learn from any game you make.

They went with Insomniac because the team pitched a good idea, Marvel was ready to get serious about their games, Microsoft turned it away, Sony owns the Spider-Man rights..millions of reasons but ...

@Petebloodyonion You typed a paragraph to make yourself sound uneducated, well done on wiping your memory of the last fifteen years of gaming. Let me remind you. After the PS3's disastrous start, it made the greatest comeback with not one or two, but multiple GOTY quality titles (Killzone 2, God of War 3, Uncharted 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, The Last of Us, etc.) and the launch of PS Plus as Xbox 360 was stagnating. Then we don't need to revisit the total self-destruction that was the Xbo...

@andy85 Dude give up this tired old fake narrative that was once relevant in the PS3 and 360 era that PC gamers don't buy games. I game on both PS5 and PC and I actually buy more games on PC because of Steam and GOG sales and the wealth of indie titles. The player counts on games on Steam and sales more than justify how many players are buying. PC gaming has become a lot more accessible, handheld devices like Steamdeck and Asus Rog have evolved the market and it's actually an inconven...

This is exactly MS' plan. They buy up the big publishers and when the dust settles they just profit off ownership royalties. That and Games Pass. Xbox can add CoD, Starfield or whatever else, they simply don't have the fanbase and quality of first party titles to win Sony's player base over or make Xbox an appealing contender to Sony or Nintendo.

Maybe they thought owning CoD and Bethesda would make people sell their PlayStations and jump ship, but it's pre...

Are you an idiot or badly trolling for kicks? I'd actually like an answer. So a wrong should be perpetuated continuosly because another party is or was guilty of it? What about all the "white people" who fought and fight against racism?

I'm not white or black, but you are certainly foolish at best and ignorant at worst, and you don't need a colour for that.

@monkey602 Same, I upgraded my home network to a mesh one sometime ago and it works wonders for the Portal. TP-Link Archer 3000 Router and a Wifi extender. Pretty much can move wherever I want in the house and never drop a bar.

That's because the game doesn't have mainstream appeal and the original game was decent, it wasn't exactly a system seller or industry shaking title.

The fact is that the biggest game Xbox has going for it right now is Hellblade 2, which itself does not have a massive audience, given that the original sold just over a million copies in a year.

People need to realise that Microsoft's and Phil Spencer's plan is to decrease the necessity ...

Duped how exactly? Sony made an accessory, told its fanbase exactly who would benefit from it and then, surprise, the target audience is happy.

What is complicated for you? What makes the Portal a bad product? Before the Portal I used to remote play on my phone with a BackBone One PS Edition, and while it was a cool gadget and great controller I cannot go back to that after the Portal. It's far superior in every single category and it's worth the extra investment. ...

Dude I live in South Africa where this device is expensive and it's still sold out at five major retailers, only found one with some in stock online only. I pre-ordered mine to make sure I got it. So quit using major anecdotal evidence. I can also say that from my group of friends no one is buying a Portal, but that's because they're not the target audience. They're PC gamers, casuals and competitive players.

This is an accessory, stop acting like it's a...
