In fairness 2cents, an entire month after their official reveal we still had no idea how many of their policies worked and the implications it had for gamers. We also had no idea of what the benefits of the Xbox One are. We were only exposed to the negatives, because they were massive worries.

And Microsoft never made a genuine effort to inform or tell us.

At best they threw around PR speak like "the power of the cloud!" and "we're the fut...

The same reason people get paid to give their opinions on any other media there is, like movies or books.

Because these people take the time to inform you of a product so to better help you make a decision without buying and hoping for the best.

Because marketing does not equal truth and you can only know the quality of something once you've experienced it, so for instance if there is a serious issue with the game that would deter you from buying it, a ...

What a strange, silly and sensationalist article.

1) Sony cannot abandon a genre. That's factually impossible, considering all it takes is the next Street Fighter or Tekken or anything to put a fighter on the PS4.

2) Aside from Killer Instinct, I don't really recall fighting games being shown at E3. It most likely means that no fighting game is ready yet. Means wait for GamesCom or later announcements.

3) The Blazblue and Guilty Gear ...

InSpectre, it is a little bitter, but keep in mind that where MS is offering you Halo 3 and Assassin's Creed 2 (ancient titles you can get on the cheap or from friends), Sony is offering you a launch title of the PS4 completely free, which is $60 handed on your lap for simply signing up for PS+.

I am a bit upset about the loss of free online play, don't get me wrong, but I at least feel compensated and not like something was taken away from me where nothing was given ...

Not to attack the author or anything, but it really annoys me when someone can write so pretentiously despite being wrong on facts.

For example, firstly, the author still believes that Kinect cannot be turned off (I'm not defending Kinect, just illustrating how factually wrong the author is). Secondly, he is another to utterly confuse what Tretton meant when he said "third party DRM will be up to publishers."

That only applies to playing used ga...

I honestly don't see what's so hard to understand. This is getting blown out of proportion.

It's exactly the same as PS3.

Furthermore, here's the simple difference. Tretton's very quote confirms that no first party Sony title will have DRM, and they will not implement it.

Secondly, the Xbox One was DESIGNED to feature DRM and all of those restrictions. Microsoft spent money developing the console's policies and adverti...

@AngryEnglish
The reason people are more trusting of that is because of the console was announced in February, and already has 8 exclusives.

It was also announced that all of Sony's devs are currently working on PS4 titles, and both Naughty Dog and SCE Santa Monica have hinted at revealing their PS4 titles at E3.

So that would put it up to 10, and E3 isn't even here yet.

Whereas in Microsoft's case, aside from Remedy Enter...

I cannot fathom how you can compare BioShock: Infinite to The Last Of Us.

Two entirely different genres, entirely different gameplay perspectives, entirely different audiences...

I guess if they're comparing them as GOTY candidates, that's pretty alright. But if they're comparing the actual games, that's a bit of a stretch.

Can't wait to play The Last Of Us when it releases. BioShock: Infinite was awesome.

Yes DragonKnight, you are completely correct. I'm glad to see that you took note of that. I noticed that more closely, recently actually (after making this video) in the Xbox One's terms, where it's explicitly stated that:

"Games that are designed to take advantage of the cloud may require a connection. "

This is the other major problem, BladerunnerZX and jmc8888. Publishers exaggerate how bad some issues really are.

Ten years ago, it was game rentals that were "destroying profits". Six years ago, and for half of this console generation, it was piracy that was destroying profits. Now, after all their failed DRM and useless attempts to beat it, the current fad among publishers is that secondhand sales and the used market is the destroyer of profits.

Agreed.

The two things I'm hoping to hear the most from Sony are:

1) Sony confirms they're sticking to earlier promises that the console can be used "old-school" and you can go totally offline with it. This will prevent the console from having any DRM verification process.

2) While Sony has said that third party titles and their restrictions will be up to publishers (like MS), Sony themselves won't require things like on...

I commented on this in another N4G article, so I'll just repeat more or less the same thing here since it's a discussion about it:

What I dislike most about Polygon's review, being a game reviewer myself, is that I can't determine the score from reading the review.

I read the review twice, and I do not understand how 7.5 was gotten to.

Not to be a downer, but for me that always makes me feel like I just read a badly written...

A man needs Jaqen Hghar to get off N4G and please return to Game of Thrones, where he is painfully missed and badly needed.

If I wanted to do that only, I think I should have done one of those "Why the PS4/Xbox One Won Next Generation" topics.

I did this out of my own interest, and once I had collected all the poll data I wanted to write about it. Figured reading an article filled with numbers and figures wouldn't be pleasing to the eye, and a video would better convey the information.

But you are right ...

Hey rainslacker :D

Thank you, I appreciate your comment :)

Just so that I can improve (hopefully!) when you said that I seemed to have more heart in the first one, do you mean that:

1. The quality of the writing was better for the Xbox One tribute?

2. Or my energy/presentation was better in the Xbox One tribute?

3. Or both?

I would just like to pinpoint whether it was an issue with the writin...

Thank you for the feedback :) Haha I'll pretend not to be weirded out by being called Aladdin :P

Hmm, when writing this in the last week and looking through the issues people had with the reveal, I always felt like there was an ocean for the Xbox One and a tiny little pond for the PS4. It was mostly the absence of the console, David Cage's polygon speech, and the long presentation of Wonderbook.

I don't want to put blame on external factors befor...

Just to clarify, there is one directed at both the Xbox One (it was here on N4G last week) and PS4, as the video clearly states in the start.

It's not meant to spread hate at all or express my opinion (as I loved the PS4 reveal, I was giddy like a school girl for it), but simply make fun of the negativity surrounding both consoles. It parodies the issues with both reveal events, and nothing more than that.

I'm a PS3 lover (I think I mentioned this in ...
