My problem with Microsofts gold strategy is that you either pay it or you basically have a $500 brick. So what's to stop them from jacking the price of gold up when they get an installed base they are happy with? They have already proven they will do it when they raised gold 10$ a few years ago.
Nope, we saw how the company treats it's fanbase when it thinks it's #1, even though they are still dead last. Sure, now they are listening to customers, but it's only because the demand for their new hotness isn't there. Scary to think what they might do if somehow they manage to win this new generation.
Well it's not the last hurdle, they still have a 10$ more expensive annual service that doesn't offer the value of the competition. And they still have way to many features and services hidden behind the paywall. But yeah once they release a Kinect-less sku, lower the price of gold, and only have multiplayer behind the paywall, they will officially have a weaker spec'd XboxStation 4.
So if someone punches you in the face then shakes your hand is all forgiven?
@B-radical: The only thing they are listening to is demand, or lack thereof, don't be foolish to think they are making these changes because "you" asked for them. They are trying to repair a severely damaged reputation in order to move boxes, nothing more.

What are you talking about? Sony made decisions in February and May that made Microsoft rewrite their entire playbook. And there is no need for Sony to make changes when they're doing almost everything right.

While Phil Spencer is better than Mattrick, I'm still not a fan of him, still seems like a douche. Was really hoping Microsoft would get a more likable face for their speaking engagements.
Having everything behind a paywall is a scary proposition, it means once Microsoft hits a certain installed base they can jack the price of gold up and you either pay it or you enjoy your $500 brick. The 360 already feels this way and the Xbox One has more on lockdown, and Microsoft has already shown they aren't afraid to increase the price of gold.
This program makes me think GameStop is privy to the Xbox One and PS4 release dates, and the Xbox One's release date is going to be a worthy enough amount of time to make this program viable. Since all the games listed have a late October/early November releases it would seem that the Xbox One could have a late November release, while the PS4 will release around the same time as these titles which is why it isn't offered on the PS4?
Hard to lose a competition when you're the only player playing. Would be interesting to see if they would really hold the "King" title had EA not eliminated all other players. If I remember correctly, when EA paid for exclusivity, 2K was actually becoming the preferred game. And you would also have to wonder if Microsoft would have revived the Fever franchise on the 360.
Just played through Liberation and it was quite good. Kind of bummed to hear the news, but as others have said, hopefully it's just a hiatus for an even better version next year rather than the removal of the series from the Vita!
I already have a Vita, but I would probably still buy the combo and either sell the Vita for a small profit or give it to my wife if she wanted it.
On a side note, I see the Vita getting a price cut, possibly as soon as Gamescon, probably down to 199 for the wifi only model.
Hrmm if they are struggling to publish an already localized version of the game, I guess that means Devil Survivor 2: Break Record is completely off the table.
I'll probably snag it in a sale when it's $35-$40, but probably not at launch.

Like sckipt said, all this has been on the PS4 since February, they didn't need terrible preorders and backlash to force their hand, they brought the product people wanted and Sony deserves to be rewarded for doing so.
