So far I enjoyed every VanillaWare game I playeed, and since this one adds a whole lot of deeper RPG elements and clearly has some Golden Axe stuff going on, I can only be confident in it's sheer quality!
Can't wait for august 6 :)
I'll start with a Wizard first, then I'm tempted by the Fighter or the Elf. Can't wait! :)
I can't wait to see what the 5th town section is about. :)
While I would love to play some Zelda or Mario on my playstation, I don't think it would be such a good idea.
That said, it's easy to find games that owe much to Nintendo's greatest on other consoles. Thinking of 3d dot game heroes here...
Have you played Odin Sphere? If you only looked at the screenshots and trailers, you would have thought it was a light, quick 2d sidescroller, but in reality, it was a deep, huge, long and very well executed game.
I have a feeling it is the same for Dragon's Crown. The more they tell us, the more it feels like this game is huge, and packed with content. :)
Sweeeeeeeet! :)
For me, I'm not going to save 500$ for a first edition next gen console anyway, too many good games to play on the current gen before I move on.
That's gonna give me the chance to see what's it all about once the initial production lines of both MS and Sony get their respective red rings or yellow lights of death, how quick they'll release a new model, what exclusives they really get and how well they deal with DRM, used games, etc.
Honestly, I wish they would announce LittleBigPlanet 3 as a ps4 launch title. I can just imagine how powerful the game editor would be on next gen.
Final Fantasy XV, if announced, has better show some gameplay footage. Sky-high graphics are so standard for final fantasy games that it's not a game seller anymore. It's the gameplay that makes them or break them.
And I've given hope on The Last Guardian. :(
Hmmm.
Would be nice to get new console games instead. Like a new Dragon Quest (they really did a great job with number 9), or a sequel to Rogue Galaxy. Or a more refined take on Ni No Kuni...
Well, they would put Gogo and Umaro as DLC characters for sure in FF6, and most of Strago's Lore Magics would be too.
At least they've registered a trademark for Star Ocean recently, let's just hope that means Tri-Ace is back in the game. (If I remember correctly, Tri-Ace was involved XIII-2 battle system, which was not bad in any way.)
As I see it, more money to Tri-Ace means a slight chance of ever seeing Valkyrie Profile 3: Hrist.
<...
Next thing we know, they're turning Versus into a movie, available only on smartphones, with the ending as DLC content.
Hmm. Maybe I'm a bit sour with Square-Enix these days.
Odin Sphere and GrimGrimoire both came at the end of the ps2 lifespan too, so it's no surprise that they release this one at the end of this generation.
They're a bit like Atlus persona team on this. Late, but confident in their quality, and rightly so.
I don't know... Tried it and the fact that the character couldn't jump in any way really turned me off about this game.
I think Dragon's Dogma would be the less known but more interesting brother when it comes to well designed action RPGs of this generation.
But that's just my opinion.
My summer list would be:
Tales of Xillia
Dragon's Crown
They both get released on august 6. Gonna be a tough choice, but my hype is leaning towards Dragon's Crown at the moment. Tales is sure to be great and all, but it's sure to be a lot like every other Tales games around, and I'm itching for a new series.
No love for Atlus or Tri-Ace in there eh?
Those two are my personal favorites.
Atlus for all their Shin Megami Tensei series and Catherine, Tri-Ace for Star Ocean and Valkyrie Profile.
Vanillaware deserves some of my praise too. Odin Sphere was awesome.
As for western developers, that would be Gearbox for the borderlands series, and Media Molecule for LBP.
What I like about achievements is that it's a nice way to know where my friends are at within that game or that other one.
Gives me a glimpse at what they've been doing and if they get one hard achievement, then it should be fun to ask them about how they did it and all that.
I don't have that much trophies unlocked on my ps3, and not a single platinum, but I like those that I got. For a time I was looking on the internet to see what achievements ...
Every day gets us closer to the 6th of august. :)
While I believe feminism has it's place on earth and all, I also believe that those tropes found in video games are not as harmful as the author would like us to believe.
Of course, a damsel in distress is not the best way to portray strong independent women, but does it mean we should get rid of the cliché? I don't think so. Those characters can coexist with better representations of the modern liberated woman.
Take Jack from mass effect 2: I&...
I would's say Shadow of the Colossus is an art game.
It's an adventure game at heart, with a clear goal, and a pretty standard "Dude saves the damsel in distress" thing going on. Even if it has a slightly different view on this than most games.
Of course, it's an excellent game, with great artistic value, but it's not interactive art for art's sake à la fl0w or Flower, or even Everyday the same dream.
But...
Honestly, after seeing the new E3 trailer, I'm intrigued. I'll buy it anyway only to complete the trilogy. I kind of enjoyed the first two chapters enough to beat them, so this one will likely have the same effect.
Oh, and is she going against the whole cast from the previous chapters? In the trailer, she goes against Noel, "Serah", Snow... It would not surprise me if we have to fight every one from the saga at least once in the game.
