If I liked the survival horror genre I WOULD adapt, as a good game is worth the 'effort' (for want of a better word, as no effort is required at all really). But, not being keen on that sort of game (just a preference, not the game's fault) I won't.
On the other hand, I'm an FPS fan so consider KILLZONE 2 is definately worth the effort of 'adapting' to (although I picked it up right away as I play KILLZONE 2 all the time).
The driving game analogy I see being of...
I guess not many people have played KILLZONE (1). The control handling is virtually the same only for the sequel it HAS been 'tightened up'.
Really, the signs were there in both the first game and nearly every interview about KZ2 saying 'realism' is the key. I love the way it handles and thank god there's no robotic sticky aim that makes hits too easy. You want good shots: Get to cover, tke aim and fire. No good soldier runs and guns in reality...
An article about a review is news?
No lag here, just good gameplay - I hope you're not a "glass half empty" person over everything or your life will be miserable.
If people can't be patient enough to actually 'learn' a new gaming concept and want every FPS to be the same as the last then there's not much Guerilla can do to fix the 'problem'.
It's a part of the game design to add realism. Try moving your head from side to side: It starts slow then speeds up - If you snap your head to ge...
I was amazed by the enemy AI. As the two APC's disgorged their troops on the beach I lobbed a grenade at them, only to see the buggers actually run to another piece of cover and survive.
During the same sequence I was in cover myself, thinking I was pretty safe, then I saw a Helghan soldier coming at me from the left having flanked all the way from the parked APC. I nearly crapped myself because it was so unexpected.
Just click 'quit' in the options before you go through the door. The you can replay the demo again very quickly!
How can a free demo that you merely have to click on to download (allowing you to go off and do something else while it does so) be a waste of your time?
Five minutes worth of effort is hardly a 'waste', surely.
Ohhh... your "hehe" suggests you're being deliberately provocative as an act of petty 'revenge'. I see.
Well it's free, and you do get the 'Ballet of Death' video tagged on the end of it.
Multiplayer on a demo, like I said in another post, would be folly. It could keep a player going for some time and potentially eat into sales of the full product.
As the demo was free, gratis and for nothing, I certainly can't bring myself to complain about it's short length.
PLEASE don't confuse PS3 fans with "PS3 fanboys". I consider myself the former and would never be so dismissive as to label all 360 owners as "MS fanboys". I have never once posted dismissive or derisory comments about the 360 or it's fans here (fanBOYS yes, but NOT fans)
We can agree that fanboys are tools. The majority of PS3 and 360 owners are sound-minded individuals who love great games (I've been into gaming for nearly 20 years).
But...
Fair comments for the most part, but I don't understand the "all the enemies are the same" thing that keeps popping up.
They're an army in UNIFORM (the clue is in the name!!). In a game such as KILLZONE 2, which is striving for the most realistic realistion of warfare it can achieve, it makes sense for infantry forces to all be similar in design.
All these people saying they couldn't hit anything and kept on dying....? I must be a better gamer than I give myself credit for! One (self inflicted) death and quick takedowns on my first try, and that was before I switched to alt. 2 controls.
Very nice images, but seeing it in motion first hand is really something else. Even high quality video clips don't do the visuals justice - you need to experience it 'in the flesh', so to speak.
Honestly, it didn't even take that long for me to get used to the controls. I was in there blasting right away and felt very comfortable with how Sev moved & responded. I've been playing KZ1 this very week so maybe that helped, but even if some gamers do find them a bit odd, the period of adjustment shouldn't be long.
'Zoom' on R3 is pretty useless though (even though I didn't mind it on the first game) - Layout 'alt. 2' sorted that problem!
I've seen a lot of people on the KZ2 forum complaining about the 'laggy' right stick and some have even started a petition to get it "changed".....
Haven't they read or seen a single article about this game? It's SUPPOSED to be weighty and realistic, not a twitchy clone of everything that's gone before. Change it and it won't be KILLZONE...
Me, I loved it - I felt like I was controling a MAN and not a gun on wheels.
I only died once, and that was due to me thinking the grenade cooking would be similar to KZ1 and because it isn't (it's a lot faster!) I blew my own face off.
Like a lot of people, I've set controls to alt. 2 for best effect. Snapping to cover, peaking out and aiming down the sights takes but a few moments to get used to in this mode (I thought it would be tougher) and now I really want to get stuck into the game proper.
The demo has done it's job admirably - Stunning!...
Open zone's over there chum >>>>>>>
That's the place for your hypocritical nonesense.
As I've played the demo I know for a FACT I will love this title - Hater rhetoric will be even more hollow to me now. Long live 360 owners who accept great games on all systems, and all negative bleating directed at KILLZONE 2 will earn a wry smile and sad shake of the head from me.
Yep, I was expecting it to be awesome and I'm glad to say that it delivers on ALL fronts (for me that is, can't speak for everyone else of course).
Controls? No problem for me. Maybe it helps that I honed my 'skills' on KZ1 and that here in the sequal the controls are smoother and easier to handle, but I had no issues with the 'weight' (found it a refreshing change in fact).
Visuals? Beautiful... truly stunning. On my fourth play through I took my time and studied ho...
Downloaded at 4.00pm - played six times already (it's very short, but I don't care) - stunned - will play again
Now I know for a FACT that it's brilliant, beautiful and awesome - From now on I'll smile sympathetically and shake head sadly at haters' posts as I have seen & felt the truth of KILLZONE 2's brilliance with my own eyes...
I've been playing FPS games for what seems like forever. I had the four floppy dicc set of WOLFENSTEIN (about the only thing I could get working on my first PC!), I bought N64 GOLDENEYE on day one and have had some great titles on every console ever since (Still love EXUMED on the Saturn and DISRUPTOR on PS1).
Thing is, they've all been different. Almost every time I go from one release to the next there's a period of adjustment as I settle in to a new gaming style. Even the...
