Not sure how he can use "first impressions" and "review" in the same breath.
It's okay, I've already been put in my place for my perfectly legitimate musing further up there somewhere ^...
"If you cared to read the more --> RECENT <-- explanations from id Software people, you'd know that Carmack's initial comments were clarified.
NOTHING <-- is being taken out of Rage because of the DVD-9 disc format"
No need for me to 'care to read' more recent articles, as there'll always be someone like yourself to come charging in to 'correct' my catastrophic ignorance....
Given the choice between ten crappy plastic coffee stirrers and one silver spoon, I'll take the latter any day.
I agree to a point: It DID add to the atmosphere, but it seemed odd that a high-tech space marine had to have a seperate flashlight when even today's weapons can have lights integrated.
I'd like some kind of SP componant too, as long as it wasn't along the lines of the godawful UT3 one.
Lookin' forward to DOOM 4 (whenever it turns up).
Just make sure you have the torch ATTATCHED TO THE DAMN GUN this time round. I liked DOOM 3, but having to switch to the light all the time just to see a few feet, then quickly swap back to the gun when I saw a zombie lurching at me, got tedious pretty quickly.
Odd to hear that the 360 is the 'primary platform' for RAGE after Carmack talked about all the shortcuts they'd have to make to get it onto a DVD.
I'm exactly the same. Never bothered with online play in other games before, but KZ2 just flipped a switch in me and I got hooked.
I still have a ton of stuff to unlock. Some people seem to think ranking up to General is the only worthwhile goal. Getting all of the ribbons and medals takes time (and talent), and I still have someways to go yet. Even then, I'll still enjoy the actual gameplay.
Also, getting that 'top 1%' ribbon is reason enough to keep playing in my view. As such, it'll be a while before I can consider KILLZONE 2 'boring' and done.
Well, the Xbox 360 owners use the same argument when it suits them too. They pay for their online service because "it's worth it" while the PSN is free because it "isn't worth paying for".
See? Hypocrites everywhere, not just in one camp.
I don't doubt that the 720 will be out first. MS seemed obsessesd with getting their product on the shelf before their competitors regardless of the cost.
You've unlocked everything? All the Air Support kill ribbons and medals? Wow, you must have played the game to death and you still say it's 'boring'.
Or maybe you're just stirring....
Oh for the love of... that's the logic of a ten year old.
I also got disagrees for suggesting that GOOD maps for a GOOD game are worth paying for.
There really are some childish, immature tools here. Seems all they have left is the need to throw their teddies in the corner out of spite and bang that 'disagree' button like a trooper!!!
Until I go into a store and see NO games for my PS3, I won't be worrying about it going anywhere any time soon. As such, 'third place' is meaningless to me and won't alter my enjoyment of a brilliant console one jot.
How do you know it's fake??
And that isn't a sarky question delivered with a disparaging tone of voice by the way, I'm genuinely curious as to how you reached your conclusion.
That's my kind of price point!
If it's true then much gratitude to GG and Sony - If it's not then I'll still want them: "Copulatum Expensium", as they said in ancient Rome.
Saturday afternoon??? That's when I go for the longest.... Guess it'll be offline KZ2 for that period.
I really hope the KZ1 'Shanty town' map is included in that retro pack. Really cool little map, that one!
If we don't get a similar early UK release, I may be importing a copy myself!
