No, not seen the trailer yet - I will ammend that oversight accordingly!
Yeah, I had to wipe my save and start again to earn the trophies as I bought and finished the game pre-patch. It's the first game where I've earned every single trophy (and my first ever Platinum!)
I hope there's some continuity (Sully, Elena getting mentioned at least), but this franchise is very similar in style to the Indiana Jones films: Familiar characters, reccuring themes of exploration, adventure and shady dealings, but little crossover of plots.
And I loved the aiming of the first game: Darting out from cover, trying for a quick shot but missing and having to dart back in to safety was great fun, exhilarating and felt realistic to me. It suited Nate's 'fallib...
Damning with faint praise eh?
Sure it's your opinion, but you have to expect some comeback when you say things like "I had heard it was one of Sony's few "Shining Stars" in its sea of mediocrity".
The mere prescence of such an emotive, slanted and, frankly, uneccessary phrase makes your opinion slightly less than impartial.
That was why UNCHARTED was such a stunning game - It got EVERYTHING right! Some games have great visuals but fall down on the characters or plot. Sometimes the plot is sublime but the graphics can't step up and convey it in a compelling way, but with U:DF, the balance was perfect.
You cared about the characters (even the villains - I was bummed when Eddie bit the dust!!), the story was rich and the visuals were epic & breathtaking.
If Naughty Dog make a sequal at ...
An article about ASSASSIN'S CREED 2 and you mention KILLZONE 2 completely out of the blue. You don't 'alf prattle on about a game you apparently have such contempt for.
I got so bored with ASSASSIN'S CREED that I gave up half way through and traded it in. Don't think I'll bother with #2 unless it's reported to be something really special.
Good job you haven't got a PS3 then isn't it, chum?
MOTORSTORM ARCTIC EDGE.... Snowmobiles, I hope!
Nothing to do with how "killer" they are, but based purely on the enjoyment I derived from them:
1 UNCHARTED (one of my favourites, on any platform, of all time!)
2 MGS4
3 KZ2
4 RATCHET AND CLANK TOD
5 WIPEOUT HD
I think the talent of ND staff will have more to do with it than 'luck'.
And you are...?
And your contribution is...?
Ambientflyer cheering at the thought of good games failing....
Says it all, really.
Everything about UNCHARTED 1 was pretty (bar the tearing), so I don't doubt number two will have 'pretty precipitation' (just stay away from the yellow snow, Nate!)
Well, that's the whole point of this 'article'.
IF (and I stress the 'IF') the 360 version has better graphics, are they worth struggling through two bricked consoles to see them? The author says 'yes' for some reason. I say 'no way', but there you go. He's a glutton for punishment, apparently.
UNCHARTED 1 remains one of the best games I've played, EVER. Never have the script, acting, visuals and gameplay come together so perfectly to create such an amazing & enjoyable experience for me.
Even now, two years later, I'm still playing through it (and am sooo close to finishing it on 'Crushing'), so AMONGST THIEVES will be my game of the year, without a doubt (and that's even if GOD 3 comes out in 09).
Don't really need to see a demo as I know it's going to be a steller game.
The disagrees for you post seem to indicate that a lot of folk here DO seem to put sales ahead of games... I have to wonder why they got into the pastime in the first place then.
And at Squallsan:
True, but if any of those board members are on this forum I'd be very surprised. As we're talking about (alleged) gamers getting enjoyment from their hobby and not businessmen, your point is moot.
Oh trust me, I didn't.
"You don't have to fall off a cliff to know that it hurts", as the saying goes. Similarly, I don't have to read this 'article' through to the end to realise just how tatty it really is.
Oh gawd, more mad arm waving instead of playing games. Even when I play alone I feel like an idiot doing that...
Please MS and Sony, whatever advances you make, always offer 'old school' controls as an alternative on any game.
