He ran Double Fine's publishing arm, helping Indies get funding. Don't need a publishing business anymore when you're owned by a publisher.
Sony doesn't have feelings, they're a business. Multiplatform means far more money for them and everyone involved (MLB/MLBPA).
Minecraft is the best selling game in literal gaming history. If you're gonna base Bedrock as a reflection of "can't beat em join em," then I've got news.
Death Stranding IP is owned by Sony. There is different leadership at PlayStation now, Jim Ryan said so himself
A year out from Halo: Infinite is a good time to complete the collection. The hype from this in the PC community has been high since it was announced
I was gonna say, the recommended specs are paltry by today's standards
Personally would hope not because I feel the studios know what they need better than anyone. It'll be better to let them make their own tech (ala ForzaTech engine by Turn 10) than have an EA situation where every studio had to use Frostbite engine.
It doesn't need to be said. Highest rated racing franchise this generation and it's not even close. Playground Games are damn good at open world racing.
Microsoft is at 14, if you don't include Game studio publishing (which is helping find CrossfireX). Sony is at 12, that's including recently purchased Insomniac.
They have more game studios than any publisher in the industry now. Got put up or shut up next gen
Idk what Phil Harrison was on when he lead Stadia's development and pricing models. Google is already at a huge disadvantage in gaming versus the big 3. They have no established library or studios to speak of. Even with the tech, Microsoft has the second largest cloud infrastructure in the world behind Amazon.
You'd think Phil, working for both MS and Sony, would come more prepared than they have. Sheesh.
Gears 5 and Halo: Infinite have couch coop.
Lol, I think Inxile, Obsidian, and Playground's second team has RPG covered for them.
@Shiken
That's a complete lie. There are many Japanese companies owned by foreign investors. It would absolutely kill an economy as huge as Japan if you limit foreign buyers that strictly, no investors in their right mind would trade there then. Sharp is an example, they're now own by Foxconn.
Makes sense, Europe and North America was the push early on, now eastern developers is the next logical step. They should purchase Team Ninja & Mistwalker. Beef up the latter and let us get a next gen Blue Dragon RPG!
There are some great developers in South Korea too that they could look into as well.
@anubls
Yeah, because Ghost of Tsuhima should launch on PS5 only and say "f*** off 100+ million PS4s, we need to make this game next gen only." It's common sense. Why the hell would Sony or Microsoft gimp the next gen versions of their upcoming exclusives simply because they have the same static hardware that they've been working for the past 6 years.
By your logic the Last of Us 2 isn't a next gen game because I can also play it on my launch PS4. We all know that all of the studios are currently building their games with the next gen platforms as the lead platforms and working backwards.
All of these new studios have been hiring talent like crazy since their acquisition. Next gen is gonna be a lot of fun.
@Spurg
In 2018, when Gamespot was the first to visit them for a preview of The Outer World's, they confirmed to them then that they had a huge secret RPG project in the works. Pillars of Eternity 2 just released last year on PC and this year on console. It's not that game.
Don't forget, Obsidian had over 200 employees when they were purchased. I guarantee it's a lot more now.
I'm actually amazed that this didn't leak anywhere. And Hellblade 2 looks absolutely insane.
