It's a valid concern, one that you're trying to leverage to get Sony gamers to cheer for the deal, but what's to stop MS from doing another acquisition under that same logic after acquiring ABK?

The problem is the general permissiveness many of the regulatory systems have for allowing wealth to circumvent and harm actual competition. That critique includes the CMA, which has blocked the deal, and the FTC, which is trying to block it.

The att...

@Darth

Do you have anything more substantial to support your insistence across multiple posts that Satya was only talking about 3rd party deals, or are the deflections you responded with it?

I'm not going to get sidetracked by them. We could have multiple back and forths on the one nonsense line about Sony writing the book on them, let alone the audacity of your last line. There are other places for those debates including the other article that is u...

@Darth

Why do you keep insisting that he was only talking about 3rd party deals?

"If it was up to me I would love to get rid of the entire exclusives on consoles, but that’s not for me to define especially as a low share player in the console market. The dominant player there [Sony] has defined market competition using exclusives, so that’s the world we live in. I have no love for that world."

What makes it juicy is that Activision exec Lulu Meservey was the one who made the exchange public, as part of her campaign of Twitter attacks, and phrased it in a way that implied Ryan was responding to a deal with MS, not talks for a side deal with ABK in case the merger doesn't happen.

It is. But Xbox and their army of paid and pro bono reputation managers once again tried to make a scandal out of a common practice they conveniently pretend Xbox hasn't engaged in.

One other thing...

"Because it's not within his power to eliminate exclusives 'entirely.' He could possibly eliminate only exclusives in Xbox's favor and subsequently put his company at a disadvantage. He obviously has no way to force Sony and Nintendo to do the same."

Let me see if I follow the logic. Satya can't put his money where his mouth is because that would put Xbox at a disadvantage, again...

That's not Venom ntipicking. I only clicked on the article because the way the headline is structured without attribution gave the impression that it was based on something more substantive than Satya's conveniently timed say-so. Thankfully, my ad blocker was enabled.

"If he could, he'd eliminate console exclusives 'entirely' as a thing. No exclusives. For anyone. I'm actually fairly amazed that I need to explain this."

There is the answer to Nitrowolf2. It's being said so people, like Abriael, will credit Satya for merely talking the talk while taking unprecedented action to do the opposite when it comes to walking the walk.

As you pointed out, it was "...

You get it. Phil does a head fake with the double speak and lets those he deceived, but didn't outright lie to, unwittingly make the false statements for him.

Yeah. You get it. It's Sony's fault because Sony engages in the same 3rd party deals MS does, which Sony should understand costs MS that much more to procure occupying last place now that MS is locked into putting exclusives on Game Pass. Sony is being unreasonable.

That's not what that means. Hines was upset at the inconsistent public stance and lack of communication. He was concerned Todd Howard was going to get blindsided with questions about why Xbox was saying at the time that Activision games would be multi platform but not Bethesda games.

The bigger takeaway was this:

"If what Hines states is true, The Elder Scrolls 6 will be an Xbox and PC exclusive. While not particularly surprising, this does seem...

The author's sudden appreciation for multi console gaming, as a reaction to the console she exclusively supported publicly admitting defeat, reads like a plea for gamers to nevertheless support her favorite console.

None of the kumbaya moments when one or more of the big 3 pretended console wars were nothing but the toxic imaginings of overly obsessed fans spurred her toward multi console gaming? (Who remembers that moment during the 2018 Game Awards?) She became an ad...

@Kionic

That's a curious position to take after freely commenting on the subject here in the court of public opinion. You went so far as to say "bravo to the lawyers" and described what they've done as "perfection." Now, you have no opinion on your own position? It comes off like you were trying to have your cake and eat it too, doing damage control for Xbox by throwing out an implication you could walk away from if questioned on it.

You stopped short of answering the question.

Is it your position that they are misleading the court when they say in their filing that "Xbox has lost the console wars, and its rivals are positioned to continue to dominate"?

I'm not asking what the motive would be in playing victim. I'm aware. I know they have presented facts. I've read. My question is asking whether it is your position that they have p...

I'm asking because your lead-in sentence implies they are projecting a certain appearance that may not represent the reality.

They've been saying it. They've made acknowledgements to that effect before the attempt to acquire ABK. Phil Spencer said it recently in response to the the Redfall debacle. It only seems shocking because it's like Groundhog Day dealing with their media shills and the rotating cast of characters who champion them online.
