What's the strategy there if true?
Is it to launch before the next PS because that's what the 360 did? They have to know the landscape has changed. Phil is the one who talked about games remaining popular across gens and gamers being more locked into ecosystems. PS5 also has a mid gen upgrade that would only be two years old by that point, whereas 360 was a jump to HD over a PS2 that didn't have a pro model.
The only benefit that comes to m...

"It’s the biggest game of the year. In what way was it not a major success?"
There are some interesting places this conversation can go in considering the challenges of stating for fact that something is a "major success" absent an agreed upon, authoritative definition unbeholden to subjective interpretation and the challenges of measuring major success absent knowledge of the metrics and values needed to determine it.

Edit: Wrong reply.
@Salty
"It’s the biggest game of the year. In what way was it not a major success?"
How are you defining "major success" without defining what a major success is and identifying and providing the metrics used to determine it?
That's the problem with throwing around empty phrases and demanding they be assumed to be factual.
I would think COD would have a long way to fall to not be a success, b...
Someone was just trying to press me to state that it's a fact that COD was a major success last year, as if there's enough data available to make that determination. MS may not yet have enough data to make the determination. They're going to keep the general public in the dark, resorting to trying to read the tea leaves by looking at things like Steam engagement to make an educated guess about an engagement metric that still isn't worth much without additional context.
Restarting from a checkpoint does not sound easier than putting it into rest mode.
"Meh, doesnt matter. Just pointing out a few facts."
Pointing out a few facts doesn't mean you have a decent argument.
Saying that half the users aren't using rest mode because PS5 doesn't have Xbox's quick resume feature seems like a stretch to inject quick resume into the conversation.
The reason andy85 gave for shutting all the way down sounds more plausible than the idea that half the users are probably sh...
"Broken clock surr good for you."
Yeah. Broken clock. The the thing that exposed the fundamental limitation of your understanding without me having to call you a bunch of names to prove the point.
I already told you we're not doing the non sequiturs that you want to deflect with and pretend are relevant after refusing to answer my questions.
I already told you why I asked my questions and explained the relevance to the arg...
"1.) Was COD a major success last year? Fact or fiction? Fact.
"2. ) Does MS ignore console sales for services, engagement and GP and third party publishing. Fact or fiction? Fact."
This is more of that non sequitur stuff I mentioned above. It has jack all to do with our point of disagreement. This is what you do continually. You're the type who will jump into an argument over who is the greatest fighter of all time, claim it's [ins...
S2Killinit challenged a claim made by OBSCURE, not supposed industry experts you started rambling about in your non sequitur.
[Pause to provide definitions of a non sequitur because you do it a lot. More on that later.]
1. an inference (see inference sense 1) that does not follow from the premises (see premise entry 1 sense 1)
2. a statement (such as a response) that does not follow logically from or is not clearly related to anything previously...
@S2Killinit
This is the same person who boasted about his ability to man up and admit when he's wrong.
@Lightning
"You're still confused aren't you.....of course you are..."
Boy, if you don't go sit down somewhere. Doubling down on the insults and projection isn't going to distract from the fact that you played yourself by making it clear that you can't grasp why a clock stuck at 12:...
"Also just want to point out that the actual content of the article has nothing to do with any 'console war'. It's why I said 'lol at the headline' below because they are just trying to get clicks."
I noticed that. It's a choice headline to reframe the idea that Xbox needs to shift priorities away from the console war Phil admitted they lost to being a 3rd party publisher. OP came into the comments section with more spin that distracted fro...
@Obscure
That's for the entirety of Microsoft. It isn't comparing how profitable each is in the video game sector.
I would hope you would have more integrity than to pull a fast one by acting like your claim was not specific to video gaming, which would make it pointless to have mentioned unless deliberately trying to mislead people into thinking you were talking about profitability as a video game publisher.
If that is what y...
"Btw it's only 12pm once and 12am once. So once a day."
Don't do that to yourself, bruh. People are watching. This after spending so much time insulting my intelligence.
I... I have no more words... Yeah. Let's move along.
"That's your made up argument I just said they're making money. In which they are nice try in starting to add stuff."
Be specific. What exactly were you accu...
@Lightning
It occurs to me that you actually may not understand how to follow the thread.
S2Killinit was responding to the original post made by Obscure Observer, specifically to the claim that "thanks to ABK´s acquisition Microsoft has surpassed Tencent and is now the largest and most profitable video game publisher in the world." That's what S2Killinit is calling a lie, and Obscure is the one being accused of lying.
"Already admitted it like a man I was wrong so.. What are we doin?"
What are you doing? You're in one article proudly arguing your disregard for facts, and over here pretending like you give a crap about facts to justify lashing out at people in this article. Sorry if I ruined the pretense you're trying to hide behind to justify engaging in your same tired act, and after you were so kind to me.
What you mean by admitting like a man that...
This is a riot. Lightning is over here lecturing you on facts after coming from the Wukong thread where he tried to argue that he was justified in only considering Sony's prior exclusivity deals to the exclusion of all other information and evidence in leaping to the conclusion that Sony cut a secret deal to keep it off Xbox.

@Chocoburger
He's having a full on meltdown, divorced from reality, doing anything he can to avoid answering the question I asked. It seems he's PMed a number of people. He's so desperate for validation form the people he keeps trying to insult. Look at his response to Outside telling me Lightning PMed him.
"PM's that had logic in it right? Being fair? Or are you hear to show off in front of your fanboy friends?"
@Lightning
How would you rank the below factors in order from one to three, with #1 being the most important factor and #3 the least important, in regards to their responsibility for you promoting the falsehood that Sony money-hatted Wukong and your insults to people who argued against the falsehoods you promoted?
- Misleading statements from Microsoft
- Sony's history of exclusivity deals
- Your decision to disregard other factors a...
The beauty of gaming on PS is that the audience has been fed well enough over the years that they don't have to pin all of their hopes on a single game like Concord to keep them alive in the console war. They can reject it, let it become a massive flop, and dine on the GOTY exactly two weeks later without a single interview during that span featuring the CEO dashing their hopes by throwing in the towel and admitting to losing the console war.
