Last time I checked playstation sales were still pretty much on track with switch sales. Microsoft on the other hand are way below the 50000 weekly.
This is the kind of numbers you expect selling after the next generation launch.
Sony never tried to diminish the importance of E3, they just did not think they had enough meaningful things to announce.
We already know about TLOU2, DEATH STRANDING, GHOST OF TSUSHIMA, FF7 REMAKE, DREAMS.... ETC.
Playstation presence through third party conferences was still very much felt at this E3.
Until 2008, PES was the number one selling franchise but then EA started to copy PES and buying a very license .This is how Fifa became market leader.
Except the right trigger sensitivity on ps4 can be easily fixed. There are hundreds of vids on youtube to fix that. It's a mechanical issue.
Joycon drift on the other hand is mostly an electronic issue and very hard if not impossible to fix. Most of the time the analog stick are damaged or the Bluetooth sensors are faulty.
I'm on my second Joycon pair already.

You do realize that most of us own pretty much both consoles.
It's OK to assess the current sales situation without being fanboys, you know.
Switch is a successful machine but as soon as next Gen arrives, the sales will Be impacted for sure.
With at least another 4 big exclusives coming and a massive price cut yet to come, ps4 sales won't be caught anytime soon.
I predict 120 million lifetime for ps4, 50 million for Xbox one and around 90 millions for the switch.
Sadly I do not think this will save them anyway.
I'm pretty sure Gears5 budget must be way lower than TLOU2 and DS to be honest with you.
Take Death stranding for example and look at how many actors are in it. That alone increase the budget massively.
Gears 5 will be fine.
