With their roots in arcade games i think they may have a better chance with a reasonably priced handheld.
They do not have the resources to support a home console.
I feel that the only way i'll get a good sonic game is if they have hardware to push.

a price drop of $100 may not make much of a splash when a single game is $60.
If piracy was rampant and the console was the first and last major expenditure it would mean the world to someone whose income precluded them from buying $60 games.

The live community also has a lot to do with the console loyalty too.

Let me clarify a bit more.
When the ps2 was being launched, they did show a lot of cgi + did reference toy story for graphical quality. then they threw out a lot of jargon trying to explain how much more powerful the ps2 was.Most people without a lot of technical knowledge put 2 and 2 together and unfortunately got 5.BTW this piece of history is why early killzone2 footage was attacked.

Firstly i own one of every playstation console made.
i never meant to have the word powerful in there - my fault.
Some of their comments at the time were misleading - but that is not their fault - consumers, like myself were to blame.
I also own one of every xbox console made.
But i am loyal to no-one and am not blind to their flaws.
(Not that what sony did was a flaw - it was good business)

I'm not convinced it was a large factor either. But at that point in time i was looking ahead. My focus(financially) was shifting by that time.
It didn't hurt GOW2 either which released susequently, but god hand was a new (poorly rated) IP.

Well, Madworld did review a lot better than God Hand at a lot of sites.
Also, Madworld had been released at probably the midpoint of the life cycle and not near the end when focus was shifting to the next generation.
But i agree with you that it wont sell significantly better at its present price point. Everyone wants it on the ps3/360 at half price.
