Mark Cerny DID address the minimum clocks in his keynote. He said when necessary, "to reduce 10% power consumption it would require a downclock in frequency of about 2%." This would basically take the teraflop count from 10.3 to 10.1. Thats why it pisses me off when I hear idiots say "oh the PS5 is a 9 teraflop machine!!!" Its utter nonsense. Both GPU's are custom RDNA 2. However both contain different feature sets. Will that result in any discernable or appreciable difference on screen? We'll find out.
My only question is, is it possible that the PS5 GPU can achieve similar results just under different terminology? MS' version of VRS is one they patented, so it makes sense that Sony would use a different technique under a different descriptor. That's exactly what it is. 4k/30pfs with maxed out graphics. 4k/60fps with less detail. Probably things like ray tracing and texture detail are sacrificed. I want EVERY game to provide these choices!

Been saying that forever. Framerate on console is a DESIGN choice made by the developer. It's not a hardware default. You cannot just "brute force" framerate on closed platforms the way you can on PC's. You can't crack open the box and put in a more powerful GPU and CPU. It amazes me how many gamers do not grasp this.
That's great news! Hopefully every next gen game will offer a performance and a visuals mode. I hope Insomniac does the same thing for Ratchet and Clank: A Rift Apart.

Honestly, I think some reviewers are simply growing tired of awarding high scores to Sony exclusives and they are being ultra scrutinizing because of the high expectations.
