@Wrex369
That was a perfectly reasonable complaint given how crappy Halo Infinite looked. Everyone assumed it was because of cross-gen support. However Sony has now PROPERLY demonstrated how cross-gen games can still look amazing on next gen hardware. You're mad at the wrong group. Be mad at MS for not demonstrating better examples of next gen advantages to cross gen games.
Yep, that's exactly how I see it.
Also, I'd like to point out that if MS had managed to show anything that looked half as good as Spiderman MM and Horizon Forbidden West, no one would've said a word about cross gen support. It's because they came out and showed Halo in such a terrible way, everyone jumped on the assumption that it was because 343 was trying to get it to run on current gen as well (and that was a perfectly reasonable assumption at the time...
@Valkron1
@GamerRN
Yes but the difference between MS and Sony is the cross-gen games Sony has shown actually look awesome. If Halo Infinite had demoed better and didn't look so janky, nobody would even be complaining about current gen support anymore. But because Halo looked so bad, everyone assumed it was because it was trying to run on current gen hardware (a reasonable assumption at the time). However we've since learned that development of that game ...
"cross-gen games will NOT be using the power of the console properly."
Let's see, Spiderman on PS5 will have...
A true 4K mode
A 60fps performance mode
real time raytraced reflections/lighting
better particle effects
Instant loading
greater draw distances
better skin textures
Tempest audio integration
Dualsense controller integration
Now please tell me...
"And how many Xbox defence articles have we had today? At least 6."
LOL I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed this. Sony is fixing to lower the boom and there's nothing MS or any of their fans can do about it.
This won't age well.
Between 60 and 70 is what I'm expecting.
There IS no value when you have nothing next gen to offer for your next gen console.
Its not only unnecessary, its stupid. Spiderman on PS4 Pro using checkerboard 4K rendering looks stunning and I dare anyone to claim they can see the difference between it and native 4K. Same with Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone. Techniques like this along with temporal reconstruction, DLSS 2.0, etc should make native 4K rendering obsolete. Its a complete waste of system power for so little gain. Its a marketing buzzword, thats all.
I've not really been impressed with this game at all since it was debuted at the Xbox event. It looks like a current gen game with a few next gen assets. I'll jusf wait for Gran Turismo 7.
@Apex you are terribly misinformed. You cherry picked one example where the developers are using temporal reconstruction to achieve 4K instead of native 4K (something Digital Foundry has already admitted is just as effective as native) and decided that speaks for the entire PS5 library. Call of Duty Cold War does 4K/60 fps. Dirt 5 does 4K 60fps. Sackboys Adventure runs 4K/60fps. Astrobot's Playroom runs 4K/60fps. Monster Boy And The Cursed Kindom runs 4K/60fps. Spiderman MM will hav...
The author wants to act like we DIDNT get a PS5 event in June that showed us the console, plus showcased a ton of games running on PS5 and we DIDN'T get a deeper look at Ratchet and Clank a couple of weeks ago. Or we didn't get info that Spiderman MM and Ratchet will have 60fps modes or Call of Duty will run at 4K/120fps with ray tracing. Or we didnt get new screenshots of Demons Souls that look incredible! Price and release date don't generate hype. Games do! We have plenty...
Wrong. Stop spreading false information.
That's H U G E!!
Console gamers by and large will continue to be console gamers and PC gamers by and large will continue to be PC gamers with some fluctuation both ways. Just like the beginning of EVERY...OTHER...GENERATION that came before.
@Sonyslave
Bringing old PS4 games to PC in an effort to promote PS5 isn't the same thing as what you're suggesting. You're not going to see 1st party PS5 exclusives coming to PC for a very long time.
Does it play Ratchet and Clank A Rift Apart, Spiderman Miles Mirales, and Gran Turismo 7? Then no, its not all I need.
I didnt want them to go to THAT extreme because I do think there's a certain charm to the original Mario 64 aesthetic that should be preserved. However I do think Nintendo should've at least remastered the game in 1080p/60fps with widescreen support. I wouldve been very happy with that.
@Neonridr
What effort? If Nintendo had truly wanted to put effort into this collection, they wouldve remastered all 3 games at full 1080p/60fps and converted Mario 64 to widescreen. That shouldve been the MINIMAL effort put into this collection. Its hard for me to justify this at 60.00 when Crash N Sane and Spyro trilogies got full remakes of those games and sold new for 39.99 each. By comparison this is highway robbery.
What kills me the most is Nint...
Personally I don't see how saying "preorders will start tomorrow" and then a bunch of retailers going rogue and selling immediately is Sonys fault. Be pissed at the retailers for not complying.
