I have a feeling that it'll be PS3 exclusives that make proper use of this technology while multiplat devs do a half-arsed implementation if they even bother to.
@tdrules,
I understand your point of view and Steam is a great service but TBH when it comes to new (just released) games it's usually cheaper to buy from online stores.
Some games allow you to activate on Steam (e.g. UT3) which is great as it gives you the benefit of being able to install quickly from disk while still having the option to download if you lose the disk.
@XxRoosterxX,
I don't know about getting rid of the used games market but I personally don't ...
Try the Crysis demo. If it's playable on your PC then Crysis 2 will play a little better than that.
Is it me or has the hype for this game dropped to the point it's virtually non-existent?
I guess all the info and hype about the great exclusives releasing this year has had a negative effect on games like this that are on all major platforms.
True but it seems cheaper to buy PC games from online stores. Steam had BC2 on for £35 while I was able to get it from play.com for £25 which is great as I don't need to keep waiting for it to download whenever I decide to install it.
The one thing I think Steam and other such services are missing is the ability to sell on your games to other people. Even if they charge a small service charge I think it would be a great feature to have.
I just got one on the profile I created on their site but apparently it's a 360 beta only which is weird as it asks you what platforms you use when you sign up and it gives you two keys. One beta key and one XBLA trial key.
Can confirm whether this is 360 only? I won't be able to try it on PSN until I get home.
Notice what he says at 3:40 about the sense of feedback you can get from a game using a controller.
That's exactly why we need to keep controllers and only use tech such as the PSEye and Natal to enhance the gaming experience rather than give us a controller-less experience.
'it releases in the first half of this year'?
I hope so.
It was obvious from the start that Natal was aimed at the casual market.
It can still be integrated into mainstream games though. I still think games like Mass Effect could benefit from it even with the removal of the processor if it was used at points in the game where the processor isn't being used much (i.e. interaction with NPCs).
You must have seen the screen shots and it's pretty obvious when you view both at 720p. The difference ends up more obvious when viewed on a large screen.
Civilisation 5 is going to have a facebook game too. There are going to be a lot of people hooked on that.
True, an 8/10 here and there is no big deal as nearly all reviews are 9+
It makes sense to purchase the cheaper one on Steam but when games are the same price as they are in stores I'd prefer the one on disk as I don't have to wait ages for it to download.
I usually don't bother with Game. They're hardly ever cheaper than the competition.
Agreed but the problem with using the Arc for panning around is that you can only move it so much in one direction before you end up facing away from the TV. With a mouse you can pick it up off the surface and re-place it somewhere that allows you to keep panning which isn't something you can do with the Arc.
I seem to have trouble connecting to servers. I get the little flash-like loading animation and then nothing. It's only after a while of trying that I can get into a game on PC.
Also, I haven't played Bad Comany 2 since the PS3 beta and was wondering what happened to the in-game minimap. Pressing 'M' brings up the full map. Did they remove it?
I wonder what tech Sony will try to cram into the PS4.
I'll probably pick one up by the end of this year depending on how Natal turns out but you're right I get to play most games with my PC and PS3. Alan Wake and Halo Reach make me want to get a 360 sooner rather than later.
It's true that the 360s GPU is more powerful but from what I read a few years back the difference isn't huge.
edit: Can't find the article I read so long ago. Anyway the 360s GPU is definitely more powerful and from the info I just came across via google it seems by a decent margin too.
edit: @Shaman, clearly you know more about the workings of computer hardware than I do but that block of text was difficult to read through.
Nice to read about the technical as...
I live in the UK so we don't have Gamestop here but you're right I don't see it in Game, Gamestation or any other store we have here but I do see games being sold at CEX.
What you've said does make sense but it would be good to be able to have that option. It's just a shame that it's not something that's likely to happen.
