I think its a massive issue.
When angry birds first came to android, the only permissions it required were wifi access and prevent phone from sleeping. Then after an update for some reason angry birds needed phone, text logs along with location.
Temple run is the same - the previous version did not require any personal data, and the latest update/version added them all.
Why do games which do not have in game ads require this data?

Im sure sony will have been exploring ps4 options when the ps3 got released.
Any company the size of Sony will be doing the same.

Its not just going to be about who loses out, or who gets drowned out of the market.
Many people on N4g have said that MS have the close minded development process for games, where updates have to be a certain size etc..
Imagine how much harder that will if apple enter the market?

I admit I am a GTA fanboy, but the driving in GTA IV was more 'realistic' than recent need for speeds.
GTA IV racing and driving was very good, and it got better with TBOGT and TLAD

Im sure the driving/racing in GTA V will be better than the garbage EA has been putting out with the need for speed series.
The only game that may slightly dent sales for rockstar is call of duty, but that being said GTA is a cultural phenomenon, lets not forget when GTA IV released, it was the best selling game to that point in time.

Sony say a significant leap but that is not decided by Sony, its going to be decided by whoever the graphics card manufacturer of the PS4 is. The cell processor on the ps3 is very powerful but its being held back by the GPU, thats always going to be the issue with console gaming.
Look at the history of console gaming, the graphics chips are usually one of the components that get outdated very quickly.
I dont think Sony need to have a console out ...

They give us a tiny amount free, people grasp on as long as they can, then the rumours start which increases hype.
This whole debate between and xbox or ps3 (for netflix) is mute I think.
He said it was money that made him decide for the ps3 which is a fair conclusion and I would agree with it.
But as a few people have pointed out, there are significantly cheaper devices that support netflix and do an equally good job for streaming when compared with the ps3/xbox.

There was always going to be some fallout because of the company restructuring, however the restructuring is only one part of Sonys problems.
Many of their products are just not selling and thats where the entire issue is.
Dont me wrong many large electronics companies like Sony make big mistakes, but Sony has not adapted to the market for years now.
Aside from the PS3 Sony has had issues selling mp3 players, Tv's, Laptops etc..
