Nintendo raked in a profit from the GameCube. They rather smartly decided not to sell it at a loss, so even when it did badly they still made cash.

What do you mean, there's no casual market? It's there, but there really aren't many casual games ATM (wii fit, wii sports etc).
I love the art on Miiverse, it's nice to strive towards becoming one of the great artists (but at my 15,000 yeahs, it might never happen).
The wii u is already out.
The PS4 and 720 are not.
People think that they will be a whole lot better than the wii u based on very little evidence.
When the consoles DO come out it'll be even news again (unless Nintendo does a wii again with barely any third party support).

Eh, I kinda wish Nintendo was "competing", because I hate having to get more than one system to get games other than Nintendo games. I dunno though, this gen they MIGHT (I stress the word might here) actually have better 3rd party support.

Well, the 3DS is doing just fine despite the competition from non-gaming companies, it was even going better than the DS at one point!
It was a 3DS Nintendo Direct... Not a Wii U one.
I'm expecting lots of good news about the console at E3 though.
E3 probably has larger coverage, and with the Wii U under-performing they wanted Wii U news to get more coverage than 3DS news (because the 3DS is already doing incredibly).
This is just my take on it, anyway.

I get freezes quite frequently (which is quite annoying for me, because the wii u is my favourite console ATM) much more often than only after 10 hours of gameplay.
It sadly is Nintendo's fault, it's a glitch in the (MATRIX) miiverse that makes the system crash, they have fixed it before, but it was brought back in an update to miiverse.
They had the freezing issue fixed at one point, then a miiverse update brought it back.
The 3DS has been doing dramatically well after it's bumpy start.
The PS3 was getting outsold by the PS2 for years.
