I shouldn't say a VAST improvement. Only thing that bothered me was the framerate drops (i figured this game would be nearly perfectly polished and all, since it's not a graphically demanding game for the PS4).
Other than that, it's definitely innovative, but a slight niche-game. So it'll need some huge stuff to sell a sequel since it won't be a launch game.
MrSwank:
19 years of the same game. Does that mean it's a proven success? Don't fix what ain't broke.
And all the new, innovative IPs are either PSN games, or haven't come out yet. (except Knack, which will need a vast improvement if it doesn't wanna become yet another dead sony IP)
@Smith
Those are 2nd edition.
@Dodo
Having a 1st edition Holozard is different than having the FIRST PRINTS of the 1st edition Holozard(the shadowless 1st edition set). Which, when I checked the Beckett value about 13 years ago, they were pulling in $100 with value going up.
Now, you WILL NOT find a true first edition gem-mint condition holozard for under $500, and that's low-balling.
The problem with fanboys is they cherry-pick details to support their own claims. You, for instance, are talking about the WiiU - disregarding the fact that Nintendo quit trying to compete DIRECTLY with 3 other platforms last gen. That's 3 FAT CATS of gaming: Xbox, PS3, PC. Why be the fourth, identical member of a market when you can branch off into your own side of the gaming market.
All Ninty has to do is release a new Zelda, a new Metroid, and resurrect some old ones l...
Look closer. It's a scrolling level with what looks like some sort of heat wave or toxic haze chasing Rayman, creating a fading-from-the-left light source. Since the comparison is one frame cut in half for PS3/WiiU, there's going to be a difference in brightness, no matter which is on the left side. But there's definitely no loss or shortness of detail on either version.
a good port.
Netherrealm did the same thing with MK9. Retail-exclusive pre-orders just get the devs more ca$h.
Netherrealm also released ALL retailer-exclusive DLC for MK9 for $5.00
Most people don't consider the fact that if Nintendo wanted direct competition with Sony and Microsoft, then they would obviously make a "just as powerful" console. But Nintendo quit worrying about that after the Gamecube.
No point in trying to compete with Sony, Microsoft, and PC when they could just focus on their own style and not have to worry about the other 3 cutting in on their potential profits.
@megaton
"playing hardcore games on PS1 and 2"
What's your definition of a "hardcore" game?
To my knowledge, there's nothing on any game box that says "hardcore game". Probably because the word "hardcore", in video game terms, means you've gone the extra mile to figure out the ins and outs of the game, refining your skills.
No game can be labelled as hardcore, only the gamer.
They capture the intended emotion with their mumbles, grunts and exaggerated body language almost perfectly. When you go for realism, if something like the eyes are off or they look at all stiff, it can easily throw the immersion right outta there.
(they won't read the article)
@TheSuperior
I used to consider myself a "gen 1 and 2" guy. just this past year i played gen 3 and 5.
never played B1 or W1. but black 2 is leagues beyond gen 1 and 2 in terms of content and quality.
not to mention you can still use gen 1 pokes in B2&W2 but with more moves/abilities
for real though, if you like pokemon, end the predetermined analysis that is "its just not the same as gen 1" and check it out. its every...
wouldn't say the multiplayer killed bioshock 2. being a big daddy is what killed it.
in bioshock 1, you felt underpowered. that was a huge contribution to the atmosphere.
in bioshock 2, you were this big brute who only had one real enemy to fear - the big sister. completely changing the overall setting.
Nintendo has the least amount of money. Strictly games/systems. There are no Nintendo TVs or operating systems. They haven't been selling multiple forms of media, like M$ or $ony, for decades now. So they're excused from needing to directly compete with two other mega-media brands. Gamecube had to compete directly with Xbox and PS2. The only thing that made the systems sell were their exclusives. Nintendo took the biggest hit, being a strict game company. Obviously, they had no choice...
We have games that take days after release to review. The wiiU is an entire console with who knows how many years/games to go. a review this early is simply unfair.
and for the record, i'm not saying its ok to release a console that's likely to brick on its first and day-1 update, that really is disappointing.
@skull
based on what you said, it most certainly comes down to the dev, as far as system capability goes.
look at games like donkey kong(SNES), Turok 2(n64), and metroid prime(gcube) - all those games stomped on the competition, despite the systems "short comings".
yep. i see a low cost system and i see cheap externals everywhere. i could get fully set up with two or three brand new games for under $500.
can't ask for much more from a console's launch. that's about as good as launches get right there.
No need to install games because of high disc read speed. No need for large hard drive unless you're downloading games. Cloud service, likely future possibility, would take care of that. Hard drives, cheap ones everywhere.
Resistive touchscreens are more accurate, since you can use a stylus or something similar. With a capacitive, you pretty much HAVE to use your fingers. Also, newer resistive touchscreens have a wider sensitivity range. Which helps with drawing tools and other stuff we all saw on the original wiiU reveal.
A resistive is more "hardcore" for lack of a better term.
I didn't buy a 360 for nearly two years after it launched. Was underwhelmed with the "leap". But then, games started looking better and better. The final games of PS2/GC/XBOX hardly looked any worse than launch games for 360/PS3.
You can expect the same thing with the wiiU, as far as launch games compare to later games.
@JohnnyTower
"X" is the next entry in the XenoSeries, which has a HUGE following. Titanfall looks cool, but is a new exclusive IP that looks very similar to COD; just with mechs.
Really, they both are lucky that they're exclusive to their platforms, because they won't be competing directly with each other. They're also different genres. IMO, X obviously has had more heart put into it. Just look at the trailers.
But to ar...
