You call fortnite's battle royale mode "tacked on"? It's a huge focus for the devs and is obviously one of the most popular games right now.
Progress is made by people taking existing ideas and making them better. These devs are literally in a battle royale to keep making their version more appealing than the competition.

And yeah a 16yo will probably say screw it. My son is 6 so I'm excited to watch him build some of these things. Apparently the piano can take two hours to build and has knobs for tone and effects, which IMO is pretty darn cool.

Just finished BS1 on ps4. Never had a single frame rate drop. I noticed some audio glitches, but I think it was only ever from one particular weapon.
Also, my game froze about 5 times through out the entire playthrough. Be sure to save!
Also also, for some reason, if you have too many save files for BS1, then you won't be able to make a new save file for BS2 and you won't know it until the first time you save
