I love XBL! The only reason why I still continue to use it is because of Halo, Gears, GRAW, & Crackdown 2. The games are just to awesome to put down.
Most people put MS in the equation of HDDVD's fall because MS decided to add an external HDDVD player to the Xbox 360. Which pretty much led people to believe that MS supported that format over Blu-Ray.
So you actually want to make it harder on developers to program on the console? Does that seriously make sense to you? Why not just create a simple yet powerful CPU & GPU to program for so the developers have more time to create beautiful looking graphics than putting in more time for R&D.
Sure, it may have looked pretty good for Naughty Dog since they're really experienced with Playstation technology, but think about the other developers who got headache after h...
As you can see that even in this article, they mention that the next Xbox will have a Southern Islands GPU. Compared to the 6670 article IGN put out the other day. So let me just remind everyone to take these rumored next-gen "specs" with a grain of salt (including this article since these specs may be subject to change down the line).
I actually had quite a laugh reading all the comments from IGN's article with people saying "WiiU is going to be more power...
This is a pretty weak argument imo. Just because MS is focusing on Kinect and "casual" services, doesn't mean they're all the suddenly going to skimp on hardware. This is NEXT-GEN consoles we're talking about.
Console technology that is aimed to last 5-10 years. They're obviously going to make the next Xbox as powerful as possible while at the same time making Kinect compatible with next-gen technology.
Imo, it looks like Sony is going to hang back and see what the competition is going to offer. It's going to be like this: "Oh, so they're going to offer that? Well, we'll just give them this". Or "Since they're going to put that GPU, we'll put this GPU".
It's going to be back and forth between MS and Sony.
That could be a reason. There are too many rumors to pin-point what GPU the next Xbox will hold. Based off a couple of articles, MS should adopt the Southern Island GPUs. Like I said in my previous comment, the 360 was pretty powerful for its time. It would be foolish to think that MS will utilize a GPU that would be 3 years old in 2013.
A 6000 series of video cards is something the WiiU will most likely incorporate into its hardware.
This can't be right. If everyone remembers correctly, MS adopted quite a new GPU back in he day. It resembled the X1000 series of video cards, but had specs later used by the 2000 series cards. And the Xenos GPU was one of the first to utilize a Unified shading architecture.
MS is most likely going to utilize a 7000 series or higher for the next Xbox.
The demo was awesome! I never played the first and from what I've heard it never had the cel-shaded artstyle (which got some people pretty angry). Imo, it fits great with the game. Makes it feel like a dark superhero video game.
Looking forward to playing the final game! :)
Imo they have plenty of games that I would like to see remade. Halo is not the only game Microsoft has. They have quite a few IPs in their inventory, it's just that MS is to lazy or is no longer committed with working with those games anymore.
I guess I sort of exaggerated my last post. As I do recall Microsoft's other studio (Vancouver studios I believe) saying that they will focus on "core" gamers.
Like I said, we'll just have to wait and see what these studios will give us.
Platform Next Studios & LEAP Studios. That's two more studios Microsoft adds to their first-party list.
But note, these are Kinect studios. I've said this before and I'll say it again, HOW MANY MORE KINECT STUDIOS DOES MS NEED? They literally have like 5 studios just dedicated to Kinect (that's not including LEAP and Platform Next).
I just don't know anymore... We'll just have to see what these studios pump out.
LOLOLOL! Oh man, that was just TOO funny! Have a bubble man, you deserve it!
Haven't played Kane & Lynch 1 or 2. From what I've heard, K&L 2 is a steaming pile of dog poop. Anyone want to give me some feedback on these games if you've played them.
I highly doubt the 200+ people at Rare are working solely on Kinect and Avatar stuff. I have a gut feeling they have a team on the side working on a brand new project that is being hidden from the public.
Though, I have absolutely no idea what's going on at Rare and if their focus is just on Kinect and Avatar related things, then that's a bit sad.
Hopefully MS will step up there game when it comes to exclusive titles. I couldn't be any happier with my 360, but it doesn't hurt to have a lot more new IPs to offer. Maybe they're saving up their new IPs for next gen.
One of the main reasons Microsoft's line-up is so small is because they have very little first-party studios to make titles. And with the studios they do have, they're mostly Kinect based.
STEP YOUR GAME UP! >(
Must suck for the developers of the game, having to live through what will probably be the lowest rated game of 2012, if not the generation (there is a lot worse than this, but AMY is pretty bad).
Maybe next time they will look over all of the reviews from critics and fans and make a more quality game down the road. But for now, damn.....
I never read anything about the project becoming too expensive. Last I read there just wasn't enough time/manpower for the PC version to be up to snuff. With the size of the team (45 people at that time) it was almost impossible for them to develop two versions and have the PC version as good as it can be.
Also (and really, I don't know how many times I've said this already) they DID NOT scrap the open world aspect of Alan Wake for technical reasons. It was a des...
Very exciting news! Though I am curious to see who will develop the new PGR. Will it be an existing studio? Or will MS create a new internal studio to handle the PGR franchise?
In either case, I am pumped to finally see the wave of next-gen consoles as well as the games that will launch with them.
Cheers! :D
