Why do people feel entitled to sale prices? Sale prices are how businesses entice subsequent profitable transactions through (typically) an unprofitable transaction; or to clear inventory. Why would any merchant that can successfully sell their wares at little-to-no discount, sell their wares at a discount? Would you resell your possessions at a discount if you didn't have to?
A quick Google search refutes that very high pay:

I swear some people are just absolutely daft, completely ignoring the many countless examples given for the utility of this device!!! It is not meant to be a competitor to the Switch or Steam Deck; it is not meant to offer a return to Sony portable gaming. It is called the Portal for a very apt reason. It is an option for those people like me who want DualSense capabilities and a large screen for playing games while the TV is in use by my gal or for us to play online games while sitting next...
The sole purpose of the S is to sell Gamepass to the masses. That's really all Microsoft cares about.
I actually disagree. I think if Xbox were genuinely interested in game development and serving the gaming consumer's needs, then it would be true that good games would bring them success. But, we're now in an era of "fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice...". Xbox is trying to force upon the gaming industry a number of policies that consumers and developers do not want. Xbox"s inability to succeed is now an indictment of their business model. By and large, gamer...
Yeah, I'm not confusing anything. I responded to your assertion because your description was wong. These video scalers do not scale geometry.
"...I said the polygons *themselves* are upscaled..."
This is factually incorrect. Only the number of pixels is upscaled. Upscaling will help reduce aliasing which is what I think you're referencing; I agree that edges will be smoothed. However, the real question is whether they can address the very-low texture resolution---because those will look terrible in 4K without substantial pre-processing.
Upscaling can only increase apparent resolution. However, it's the number of pixels that is upscaled, not the polygons. Thus, the base geometry of the game will not improve. So, a single cube will still look like a single cube with upscaling.
Hope it gets a physical cartridge release like the first game...
Only true for Xbox games... Most Playstation and Nintendo games have complete, if imperfect, playable versions on the media.
There remain significant problems in coop mode.
Phil did NOT mean that they are backtracking on their all-digital/streaming strategy. He simply meant that some of the plans/details of the hardware, accessories, or game releases have evolved since those slides were presented. Some SKUs may not even be released now.
Printing a disc costs less than $1. Distribution and shelf-space for a disc costs a few more dollars. These associated costs can continue to be passed on to consumers.
Too bad it doesn't have any offline play... Ubisoft would have gotten at least the margin on the initial purchase price from me; now they get nothing.
Developers of these games don't actually want to provide an offline mode. Always-online functionality serves the secondary purpose of DRM.
It is 'Phil' phoenticized in Hiragana. I should have used Katakana, but was in a rush on my phone.
こにちはXBOXのふいるです... Gross 🤮 How disingenuous an appeal to Japanese culture when he's drooling over a possible "career move" to buy Nintendo.
Ubuntu Desktop is very stable and fully-featured. I would always use it if it weren't for a couple of critical Windows apps I need.
Did you play on PC or PS5?
It's not a matter of "excuses". I mean, who doesn't love a good sale? I certainly do, too! But, let's not pretend there is some moral imperative to price structures for non-necessities like entertainment products. Most people would likewise try to maximize their return if reselling personal possessions.
