MOST games have a playable build on the medium! Have a look at doesitplay.org.
This is untrue: Switch 2 game cards support faster read rates than Switch 1 game cards.
Also, it appears that the 'Switch 2 Editions' will be distributed on Switch 2 game cards, which cannot be used with a Switch 1 system.
I wonder if there are any differences at run-time for these Switch 2 Editions given they may not be recompiled binaries (instead operating via emulation or hardware translation layer)...
I don't think it will be like SmartDelivery. I think the Upgrade Pack will be on the cartridge. There is no mention of a download requirement. It is similar to the new SKUs for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (with the "+ Expansion Pack" language). Admittedly, I am not 100% sure about this.
MS had a chance to get full retail from me for this and Forza---but they blew it by gimping the physical release for the former and going digital-only for the latter. Now they will get nothing! Such stupid business decisions.

I think it says a lot that Ubisoft doesn't have enough confidence in its game to ship the whole game on two discs.
In fact, for videogame consoles, it's generally the CPU that taps out first. So, anything sumulation-side, physics, large-scale instancing, etc., can bottleneck the game (including the GPU).
Should have been on the disc...
"500 people passed by my lemonade stand."
You're omitting significant operational costs:
1) Fringe benefits (an additional 30-50%) for personnel
2) Your figure for office space for 200 people is wildly underestimated (probably by an order of magnitude for studios in major cities---especially in the US). Do you realize they need an entire building or floor in a tower?
3) Building operational costs such as utilities and services (and probably one or more optical trunk lines)
4) Worksta...
That's a shame. I was going to buy Forza Horizon 5; guess I'll skip it.
One of a very few examples where the pressed build is unplayable without a download, especially on Playstation. Most physical releases on Sony and Nintendo systems play just fine without any patching.
Ridiculous, right? They're not getting my money until they press a complete playable build!
YES.
Their biggest mistake was making a live-service game. Offline campaign must return for me to buy a future Diablo game.
There better be a complete playable build on disc (unlike the Xbox version)...
The System Update that brought the themes pobably had a built-in expiration date.
I'm going to make a prediction: the Oblivion remake is a Switch 2 launch title.
Absolutely false; Sony's 1st-party single-player games are always playable off the disc build (and generally with only very minor bugs).
