I was excited to buy the game. However, I just learned today that the PS5 physical disc release has an unplayable build, requiring a 40-GB Day-1 patch in order to install the game. Needless to say, I will not buy it now!
All I want is a physical disc release of remastered D2 that doesn't require online check-ins.
PS5 physical release requires internet download --> no buy!
Put playable builds on the discs and cartridges and I'll buy them! Otherwise, it's now a pass for me.
You're right that the years-long games drought prior to and around the launch of the Xbox One also substantially contributed to the demise of the Xbox division. But, I have to disagree that there was a path to success for them, simply because the culture of MS (which bled into Xbox) is so anti-consumer.

While I can't stand Don Mattrick and how he ran the Xbox business into the ground with incredibly anti-consumer decision-making, I can't help but feel like this post is suspicious. Why would this level designer have any clue about Mattrick's compensation package? Mattrick was not C-suite and probably didn't make enough to exceed the SEC reporting threshold. It doesn't seem likely that Mattrick would share that kind of information, either.
They should put the games on actual 64-GB game cards and charge an extra $30 for a physical release of the triple-pack.

Accountability Margin != Profit Margin; they are NOT comparable quantities! The Internet has really run wild with this false equivalence. That's what happens when anyone and their mother can be an "editor" at a gaming website. Accountability Margin is a term Microsoft made up for their PR rhetoric.
