Put playable builds on the discs and cartridges and I'll buy them! Otherwise, it's now a pass for me.
You're right that the years-long games drought prior to and around the launch of the Xbox One also substantially contributed to the demise of the Xbox division. But, I have to disagree that there was a path to success for them, simply because the culture of MS (which bled into Xbox) is so anti-consumer.
Where they wanted to take console gaming clashed harshly with what gamers wanted. Consoles must check-in every 24 hours; game discs are locked to the first console in w...
While I can't stand Don Mattrick and how he ran the Xbox business into the ground with incredibly anti-consumer decision-making, I can't help but feel like this post is suspicious. Why would this level designer have any clue about Mattrick's compensation package? Mattrick was not C-suite and probably didn't make enough to exceed the SEC reporting threshold. It doesn't seem likely that Mattrick would share that kind of information, either.
They should put the games on actual 64-GB game cards and charge an extra $30 for a physical release of the triple-pack.
Candy Crush (mobile) and microtransactions
Accountability Margin != Profit Margin; they are NOT comparable quantities! The Internet has really run wild with this false equivalence. That's what happens when anyone and their mother can be an "editor" at a gaming website. Accountability Margin is a term Microsoft made up for their PR rhetoric.
Similarly, I'm not buying any physical release that doesn't have a playable build on the medium.
False. There are games that have complete builds on 64-GB game cards.
Or simply allow installation of the game to the system's storage...
Predictable...
Old news.
Stupid baiting title: the "catch" is that the title is lying. Streams != Plays
Misleading title. This opinion piece's timeline shows a pattern of activity, but does not even attempt to explain why. There is no discussion of Sony's strategy (which is the "why").
They ran tests at 100 C and 125 C, you pompous blowhard. You know nothing about my background and/or expertise.
Re: Macronix XtraROM lifespan rating: 20 years @ 85 C. That means the lifespan at habitable temperatures will be much longer! Chemical reaction rates double for every 10-C increase.
Wrong; I don't buy those discs either!
Too bad it's coming on key card... not getting my money!
YouTube video compression reduces image quality no matter the resolution setting...

The console will not get anywhere close to hot enough to demagnitize the joy-con magnets; Curie temperatures for consumer magnets are above even the hottest part of operational CPUs/GPUs. And aqueous solutions could be problematic for the electronics, but not the magnets.
PS5 physical release requires internet download --> no buy!
