The price won't be changing for a while but we all know it will eventually come down. Ps2 isn't killing Ps3. Those buyers will migrate once the price drops, more games avail & better service on the net.

2008 will the turnabout year for ps3:

* Library would expanded - mainly multiplatform
* PSN would have matured and Home will be up and running.
* rumble would have returned.
* major exclusives would have been release(KZ2, MGS4, FF, R&C...

Ps3 should have been released nov 2005 at $350 with DVD RW, Sony Linux OS installed so you can use it as a PC, mouse and keyboard, controller with rumble. Even will less than impressive games on release this console would have pawned xbox 360.

And when Wii released in nov 2006 by then Sony would have a large library of games, PSN and Home will be owning all. Yes, Wii would still outsell both Ps3 & xbox 360 but you would see that the next gen are a longer proposition compare...

Okay let's do the maths:
Per UNIT, Wii is $250, Ps3 is $600. Wii sells 6 million UNITS; Ps3 sells 3 million UNITS. By my calculation, that puts Sony ahead on cash sales even if Wii sells 7.1 million UNITS. Go figure!!! Could this all be Ps3 bashing once again? Hmmmmmmmmmmm?

Massive blunder with the Blu-ray contributing to late release and high price of Ps3.

But fact is, even without the blu-ray and a price similar akin to xbox 360 at $350, Wii still would ...

They also should've done more thorough quality testing batteries and PS2s and paid the licences fees to Immersion if they did indeed use their technology for dual shock. I'm not saying Sony is a perfect company. Even with their unethical behaviour with the rootkit - which was done only to protect their music property - I, and many other Sony custormers, have forgiven them. They don't happen that often and when taken in context, becomes more palatable. Sony satisfies far more than dissatisfies...

* Winblow$ & M$ Office is M$ main source of income.

* What competition does Winblow$ have on the PC? None. It's virtually a monopoly with Linux and Apple being no real threat unless there is serious investment in Linux(eg Sony Linux OS) or Mac OsX is ported to PCs. Try to buy a PC without Winblow$ installed or try to buy your favourite PC application for Linux. Let's see how successful you are. And Vi$ta will succeed because of Micro$oft's dominance of the market - inevitab...

You have only to look at the ancient h/w, PS2 to see how such long life cycles can be achieved.

Have you seen what you get with God of War 2 with 32M Ram? Show me a game today on a modern PC - let alone 333 mhz CPU - with a low spec graphic card, NO HDD and only 32M Ram which is as good if not better than GoW2.

Unlike PCs, you write the software for the hardware - to maximize the h/w full potential.

Also, the pure game console is dead. The PC conso...

Ken is well past his use-by date.

PS3's high price and late release is due solely to Blu-ray - which, unlike CDs & DVDs during their eras, is not the standard for HD. This monumental blunder gave xbox 360 a year head start to build an impressive library of games and net service as well as fanbase - considerable next-gen market share.

Yes, Ken had to go. He missed the opportuntity to competitively force Micro$oft out of the gaming industry - once and for all ...

Did he push the inclusion of the Blu-ray or the developer-unfriendliness of the Cell processor design? Why didn't they go for 1G ram instead of 512? If he allowed Linux to be installed why not just preload their own sleek, fast, optimized version(Sony Linux OS) instead of leaving it to buyers to do?

Alot of mistakes were made with the Ps3, the biggest being the inclusion of Blu-ray. The CD was the standard media format when PS was released; the DVD was the dominant format for...

What was this survey about. Survey: Brand power index?

Hmmmmmmmm? Let's reword this abit:

* "Micro$oft Most Powerful/Trusted Brand...Lead up to Xbox 360 release apparently had ALOT OF POSITIVE effect on consumers."

Oh, yes. We can just see how true this is in the article's results. Love to know what Mi...

* cheap HD DVD player(30 G storage) = $250

* Ps3 with Blu-ray(50 G storrage) = $600

* next-gen console Xbox 360 = $350

====> so with a Ps3 you get next-gen game console for $350 ($600 - $250) + a cheap Blu-ray player for $250. All in a single unit.

You're kidding yourself if you think HD DVD will beat Blu-ray. Size does matter with HD Games or TV - the more data you can store the better. HD DVD will lose the format war unless cons...

Released videos so far show the AI and general gameplay is crap - especially on the ground. The developers have a lot of work to do. If they can make it more like God of War 2 then they just may earn the right to join the list.

****

But least we forget the importance of - LITTLE BIG PLANET - to be released 2008.

It should be clearly at the top of the list to finally turn the tide in Ps3's favour. Believe it or not, this simple platform game is goin...

As a Deltan(check bio) I couldn't help but come up with this brilliant idea:

The new PSP:

* Touch screen - that can also bring up keyboard(like Apple iPhone).
* has rumble and 6 axis
* doubles as a Ps3 controller
* can take all video/audio feed from a Ps3(no need to turn on the TV) - can use your ps3 entirely from the PSP.

Wow. This will pawn all handhelds and further promote sales of Ps3.

C'mon Sony. Just do it ...

Believe it or not Little Big Planet is going to be Sony's killer game.

Everyone that's anyone will want this game. It's just pure fun and that is what gaming is all about.

User-created content is the future of gaming & LBP will be the first of many games to follow.

how about this little beauty developed for the ps2 by a third party manufacture.

A 6-axis, dual shock version could easily be in the future by 3p or Sony.

Check it out >>>>>

I would have waited five years not 2 before passing judgement. But it'll do.

Home, Little Big Planet, MGS, FF, Killzone 2, Warhawk, Getaway, 8 Days, H&C etc would have been released and a large library built up; PSN would have matured to at least equal XBL; dual shock would have returned and obviously the price would have dropped. Last but not least, Ps2 would have finally reached the end of its useful lifespan so the owners will now have a good reason to buy a Ps3.

So with his ramblings about Sony, he's basically admitting Micro$oft's a monopoly. Good boy. It's obvious.

Most PCs have Winbow$ with programs written specifically for it. M$ has huge market leaverage because they control to Winblow$ and subsequently everything that runs on it - a monopoly. And least we forget, we are all forced to pay for windows when we buy a PC - its included in the price. Retailers won't give u a discount to remove it. Vista will eventually succeed because ...

Seems like lesser people lack the grace and maturity to forgive. Poor tortured souls. Perhaps their mommy will give them a huge.

Now, it also seems like Wii invented motion control eight years ago. Strange thing, I don't recall seeing it. But in 1999 there was this Playstation controller with motion and rumble. WTF.

...because they would lose income from PCs.

The pure game console is dead. The PC console is the future.

Ps3 is a PC Console(games, internet, media center, productivity) when it has a full OS(such as Linux, XP, Mac OsX) installed on it.

Sony will never be able to get XP/Vista ported and unlikely to convince Apple to do the same with Mac OsX. So we just have Linux at the moment. However, Linux has never had major capital investment - like Apple and...

Playstation may have been the dominant system for the last decade, but Sony never exercised monopolistic practises to force out the competition to maintain market share. Great consoles, great games - playstation simply won the battle. Fair & square. Okay, with every new console the price started high but it also eventually dropped....and a large library of games followed. Likewise with the Ps3.

Contrast that with Micro$oft and the monopoly it has with Winblow$ on the PC. Th...

xboxt 360s a very capable console and Halo, Gears, Forza, Viva etc are great games.

But the faster we drive Micro$oft out of the game console industry, the faster they can focus on games development only(like Sega) and port their games to the next gen winner - Ps3.

Believe me, you don't want Micro$oft to win the console war.....it will cost you $$$$$$$.
