Just before 2:20 a structure is destroyed with a rocket. Pieces fly everywhere.
Now during the 2:20 second a piece of that structure lands close the the player and can be seen on the far left of the screen. It has a moving shadow under it.
I don't know what is technically considered "baked" but that shadow looks as good as any I've seen.
Mark one for OpenGL, looks like DirectX11 ain't the only graphics API anymore. :)
Hoping for some Linux support, and I'll probably get it based on what I read.
Your welcome to enlighten me if you see things different.
Personally I thought Cnet has always been very harsh with Sony products, and that why I said "Cnet [wont] brush past the negatives."
The fact that Cnet is usually grabbing for bad things to say and the best they can come up with is a little lag now and then is a good sign for Move.
This is what I intended to say, and what I actually did say.
Do you disagree? ...
I read the article mainly because I knew Cnet wouldn't brush past the negatives. Sounds like there is a little lag during fast actions, but otherwise it works well.
You could see the lag during the golf demonstration at E3. It's pretty cool what can be done with a simple USB camera and a few gyroscopes.
Valve games on XBox always get late updates because MS has to do QA testing first, and that takes awhile. Sony does the same thing I believe?
But I was thinking some time ago when Gabe was saying they needed more open platforms that he should prefer PS3, since it's more open.
And if Move really does work with Portal 2 I will be very impressed with Move. Players of the first Portal know that there are many time where your falling to certain death and mu...
I say those services are worth 50$. I think I'd rather just buy the games I'm interested in directly rather than pay by month, but that's just me. It's still a great deal.
I would be upset for Sony charging for cross game chat when it's something that doesn't cost them anything. There's no reason they have to host servers, just make it a P2P architecture, then there is no additional cost. P2P is hated by PS3 fans I know, but P2P is just fine fo...
LBP2 is bootstrapping? ;)
It's nice to look on the bright side, but you forget what has been lost, and think it gracious what hasn't yet been taken.
Voice chat has always been free, online play has always been free, dedicated servers has always been free.
Sony takes away free voice chat and you thank them for not taking your other freedoms.
Voice chat will cost Sony absolutely nothing to offer. It will be a P2P service. Mark my words.
I run a VOIP server from my personal computer that is more than capable of hosting a 4 way conversation. It doesn't cost me anything. I suspect the power of the cell is able to act as a VOIP server.
I suspect Sony's voice chat will be P2P and there is nothing wrong with that, except they are charging for something that costs them nothing. That's what XBL has been doing for years though.
Every promising game Sony has coming will just be replicated in LBP2. :)
I have no doubt that there will be weather, if they've said there will be.
I know they can only go so far with damage due to licensing and such, but I didn't see any in that video.
At one point in the Sony conference promo for GT5 a blue car (Subaru?) bounces off the edge of the track at what appears to be 100 MPH and goes flying through the air. I was surprised they slowed down the action at this point because you could see almost no damage on the car.
I'd like to see it again if anyone has a link to it?
I was really excited to see the rally racing shown, even if it was just a little.
But Portal 2 on PC will probably come out at 45$ like all new Steam games. It will be 60$ on PS3 most likely? I suspect it will cost more to develop on PS3, seeing they already have the engine working on PC and have to develop anew for PS3.
Just because steam runs on multiple platforms doesn't mean all the games will. Unless the CS developers port specifically to PS3 then CS will not work.
Also, when you get tight on money and have to stop spending on games for a few months:
If you have a console, you can still play your old games.
If you use OnLive, your entire gaming library is gone.
OnLive is a digital rental service. You don't own anything.
What is there to get wrong? :)
You have to put up with lower game prices and dedicated servers on PC, and I'm not even going to mention game mods.
Talk, talk, hype, hype, release -
then nothing.
Well, I guess you get a "lets play game X" thread in the forums, and 12 replies, but that's about it.
An ugly bug shows itself in an early build of the game and nobody is willing to look past it? I fail to see how the game was really threatened. It would have been a good story, repeated by every gaming website, but people would get over it - at least I have to hope they would.
but then they'll show you rage on the PC.
