Alright so people seem to be thinking that the crushed blacks on the X1 somehow make it sharper. Guys, think for a second. Here's a good example (taken from neogaf, credit to poster VanWinkle)
First, check out the gif: http://i.minus.com/ibkTxrUV...
On the X1 side, the image is overstaturated which seems to be fooling a lot of people; however, what happens when we over saturate the PS4 i...
VGchartz is notorious for overtracking 360 and undertracking PS3. If they have the PS3 leading, there's no way for them to fuss the numbers enough.
Short term, the smart thing for investors is selling it off or spinning it off into it's own company. Long term, it's debatable, but unfortunately, most investors only care about short term.
The amount of people disagreeing with you is insane. seems a lot of people put their fingers in their ears and refuse to listen. Apparently, some of the people on this site know better than top business analysts and billionaire investors.
MS isn't the same company as Sony and the implications of the two are different. MS makes a ton of money off of their Enterprise division with Windows, Xbox represents a tiny part of their revenues. If you look at it that way, selling off Xbox or spinning it off would be good for the company.
On the Sony side, PlayStation is one of the few profitable things inside Sony, they haven't made money in years. Iirc Loeb wanted to do was split the entertainment side from the ...
I'm far from a Sony fanboy, but okay. GT games have the sales and critical acclaim to back them up. Comparing them to Forza, or any other racing game is absurd. PD works on their own time and do their thing.
So wait, a game on a brand new console looks better than a game running on seven year old hardware? Damn, who would have thought! Turn 10, always chasing that Polyphony dream. GT5 alone outsold pretty much all the Forzas combined, they're on completely different leagues.
And this is referring to United Stats numbers. If Sony is able to get even 50% marketshare here, it'll be a huge blow, if they're able to do even more it'll be a total disaster for MS. For people that don't know, MS sold something like 45 million out of their 78 million 360s in just the U.S. and it's their cash cow. Loosing it would be devastating.
@Dlacy13g
Two main God of War games on PS3 (III and Ascension)
Three main Uncharted games
TWO Killzone games
TWO Infamous games
All across the lifespan of the PS3? Yea, look at how much milking there is! Let's take a look at the 360:
Four Gears Games
Five Halo games (3, ODST, Wars, Reach, 4)
Four Forza Games (2,3,4,Horizon)
And of course, the multiplats li...
A lot of people won't be willing to buy an Xbox One for $500, especially since it's the weaker console. I think MS will have some issues similar to Nintendo, especially since a lot of the games they showed off at E3 seemed to be early in development still. Both the PS4 and X1 are going to rely on third party multiplats at the start, and guess which one is $100 cheaper for pretty much the same games? Hopefully Sony doesn't mess things up again.
If you're referring to the Xbox One, I agree. Kinect 2 is a solid piece of tech, but the $100 difference it has caused will be a big deal, especially with the consoles being so similar. If Sony can make sure the average joe knows that CoD, BF, Fifa, NFL, etc are all on PS4 for $100 cheaper, MS will have a bad time. My personaly guess is 50/50 in NA (with a slight Xbox lead), 50/50 in the UK (with a slight Playstation lead) and pretty much PS4 domination everywhere else. I don't see th...
They made a profit due to the weak Yen. That's hardly a victory.
@Jdoki
Consumer confusions definitely played a huge part. I'm a dedicated gamer and even I was confused as hell after the initial reveal. I didn't know if it'd be an addon or some kind of new Wii Model or whatever. They focused too much on the gamepad and then when they showed the actual consonle it looked so much like a Wii. It took me a while to fully get exactly what it was. If it confused someone like me who keeps with the gaming media, I can't imagine how co...
I honestly wish Sony would just give the IP to one of their internal devs. They've got tons of talent so why not. Insomniac should sink or float on their own merits rather than relying on the R&C money.
To be fair, it likely is timed exclusive, but it doesn't really matter. It'll have it's intended effect and push X1 hardware. The only thing I wonder is if the 360 version may affect it (sales wise as in people opting not to buy an X1 for it since it's on 360), but I don't know.
I'll be buying DR3 and Forza 5 for sure on launch. Still undecided on Rome since there seems to be conflicting reports. I'll probably wait a while to see what they do with it and how it's received. On the multiplat side I might get BF4 on the X1, though I'm not 100% sure on that yet. Good thing there's tons of time.
It did, by a few thousand units.
That was Japanese game though.
Wrong reply. Ignore.
Yes, the X1 side is oversaturated and the blacks are crushed. It's a neat trick on the part of MS, which seems to be working on some people.
