They are just showing their product in it's very best light. Who can begrudge them that? BF3 is going to be incredible on PC, can't wait.

If you are a console gamer then you know it isn't going to look like that and you probably shouldn't be so bothered about the visuals.

Although arguably not cutting edge, it has more than enough technology to enable valve to create some quality games and excellent artwork assets. They always add gradual updates to make sure it does not become too outdated.

The other side of the coin is that let us not forget for the visual quality it can provide, it is extremely well optimised on the PC platform in particular.

Find another engine that still looks that good but runs well on pitifully slow har...

A true sequel to Ridge 4 would be wonderful. The story mode and the track variety was superb, the music utterly atmospheric.

Yup, better off in oblivion than having a seizure trying to buzz the tower at 400 knots :-)

Be much much worse than just spilling the air traffic controller's coffee then.

This isn't Ridge racer.

The series did need a bit of a revamp i admit, but this is for many original ridge players including me- a bridge too far. It may be more exciting to some people but the ridge name isn't meant to go on generic looking arcade smash em ups.

No thanks.

Live by the sword, die by the sword.

Live by the 7.62mm multi barrel heavy machine gun however and everyone else dies but you :-)

PC version surely :-) only the version they should have led with in the first place to do the game and its engine justice.

With some tweaks and specifically gameplay adjustments to throw in variety it could be a good port.

The article itself kind of relies on the fact this one feature makes the game look so much better and that PS3 hasn't got strengths elsewhere in its architecture or capable of other features 360 could not do because it would be too slow. Well PS3 has, these are different machines and have different strengths and weaknesses.

The truth of the matter is Gears is exclusive to 360 and the Unreal engine 3 is optimised for 360 far better, not PS3. From the very start UE3 was alw...

The basic assets are very impressive, although i did notice the lack of AA and indeed, screen tearing. Plenty of time to improve performance a bit just yet, what is clear however is epic are wringing the neck of 360 for every last ounce of performance.

I have little doubt it will be the best looking 360 game when it launches, however i suspect that naughty dog will exceed themselves once again with Uncharted 3 after incorporating MLAA and retaining triple buffering to elimina...

Ahh see, i still have a Xenon model! No HDMI, nothing lol. What a rare beast i am sure in 2011....They were all exchange units/repairs, with the original chipset. I have fitted a new hard drive to replace the pitiful 20Gb it first came with, but essentially its a launch model machine with whatever modifications microsoft probably did to all those toasted xenon motherboards, extra cooling heatsinks etc. Whatever microsoft did, it seemed to have worked because i have now had this same machine f...

Whether or not they chose to launch the machine soon after the hardware development is finalised and completed is a matter for debate, but generally once actual devkits are out in the wild (third party devs no less!!) then the machine is never more than 18 months away from completion....

360's launch was rushed and the console was brought to market very very fast to meet the christmas season of 2005. It only went into production 69 days before it went on sale, which was w...

Got mine on launch too. I would say i have had it all this time, however i have had 6 replacements so it kinda isn't the same machine lol

Developers usually get told the rough specs several months before they even get a devkit and thus start work for a launch game, with the projected performance. Once they get an early devkit they can then get to grips with programming properly. Games are usually in development at least a year before they actually launch with a console. Finalised devkits may come only two to three months before a launch, as they did with 360.

If developers ALREADY have early devkits as this art...

COD will sell more. However i feel this is a PROPER battlefield game, a true sequel to BF2 on PC which was an epic game. By leading this on PC i believe it will surpass the console centric COD games not only on PC but in turn on console.

This isn't bad company, this is the next generation of full blood battlefield. If it is anything as good when it launches as BF2 was back in 2005, it'll be the definitive online shooter for several years- at least on the PC platform. ...

It suggests Nintendo still would have no intention to have their machine as a multi function, media centred device. Microsoft and Sony are pushing their boxes heavily as living room, everyday entertainment devices, whereas by lacking a hard drive it would mean Nintendo are still not really interested in that.

Maybe its not a bad thing assuming that the focus is still entirely on gaming, however these days most people expect their shiny new piece of electronics to be all singi...

Nintendo Fondle

If Nintendo spec the machine out well enough then a wii2 version of battlefield 3 could actually be a system seller!

The one game out soon that really illustrates the difference between PC and the consoles could be used as a tech demo to illustrate the difference in performance of a powerful wii2 and PS3/360. If that wouldn't catch the eye of core console gamers then what would?

BF3 PC v any console game = PC win. Sheer unadulterated power here.

BF3 console v Uncharted series = almost certain Uncharted win. Its a big budget PS3 exclusive built from the ground up with a single platform in mind, BF3 on console will not be.

Saying that if they port Battlefield 3 to wii2 early next year and wii2 has superior hardware to PS3/360.....

If nintendo fit it up with a something akin to a Radeon 4870 class GPU and at least 1Gb of RAM, it'll be significantly quicker than PS3 and 360. No worries about that.

Even a Radeon 4670 is at least twice as fast as PS3 and 360's GPUs. Paired with a reasonable central processor it should be able to run many titles in 1080p better than the current machines could in 720P, although i think nintendo may still be aiming for a 720p resolution.

Source is an interesting engine because even now, it is faaaaaaar better optimised on the PC platform than either console. This is borne out because it runs on incredibly low end hardware on PC and yet still defeats the console versions.

For example, Left 4 Dead 2 runs better on a mere Radeon 5450 than it does on Xbox 360.
