I would be waiting a little bit longer to see what nvidia put on the table at the end of this month- competition should hopefully cause Ati to at least lower their prices and give with luck a knock on effect to the lower models. If you are looking for a single Dx11 card then this is about the only proposition at its pricepoint around 200, but as i said above its not great, i wouldnt pay more than 160 for it.
With a little luck maybe the 5850 will find itself closer to 200 pound...
Im sorry but its performance is not all that brilliant, especially if you compare it to a previous generation card like a 4890 or GTX275. Ok so it has DX11, but the enhancements currently seen in games are not particularly spectacular, and this review shows how much of a performance hit this card takes trying to run them.
Its barely 10-20 percent faster than a 5770, yet costs here in the uk a good 50 percent more. 5770 1Gb usually costs as little as 120 pounds, and one of these...
Worldwide launch? Bet your ass. Sony could do with a summer blockbuster but i can see them pushing it into autumn just to maximise holiday PS3 sales
I was laughing my ass off reading the comments from parents about the harry potter broom 'even my 17 year old daughter seemed to love it'. This isnt quite as good as that LOL
Permafrost everywhere. Its an unknown location, constantly cold. Also you havent seem to have looked at the models in episode 2 by clipping and seeing that the ship seems to be half buried in the side of an iceberg/shelf, along with judith being inside a facility either on land or on a shelf. How COULD she get to say, the arctic? She heads north specifically from the white forest in a helicopter. Its a game, we cant expect perfect continuation so try not to pick apart every tiny detail.
Judith Mossman finds the Borealis in the arctic. Its an icebreaker after all. Whether the player actually goes to get on the ship remains to be seen but i consider it highly likely after Eli Vance urges Gordon to destroy it, coupled with the fact we know aperture science somehow interlinks with the half life universe
9600GT is about twice as fast as a GT220.
9600GT: 64 shaders, 32 TMUs and 16 ROPs. Reference clocks 650mhz core 1625mhz shaders 1800mhz memory with a 256bit bus = 57Gb/s bandwidth
GT220: 48 shaders, 16 TMUs, 8 ROPs. 625mhz core 1360mhz shader 1580mhz memory with DDR3 and 128bit bus = 25Gb/s bandwidth.
9600GT practically double in every department as you can see. GT220 might have only 25 percent less shaders but possesses somewhat slower clocks nota...
They only thing i dont get with this is that its a shooter, it gets a 9, but its downers are apparently weak shooting???? Shouldnt that mean the game is fundamentally compromised? Like a racing game that gets a 9 but its handling is weak? Lol. Well whatever. I'll have a pop on PC
Dual Core, 1GB RAM and a GT220? Relatively standard minimum specs for more modern PC games, a GT220 being only slightly faster than a standard 9500GT. If that really is bare minimum a 9500GT would overclock for that- they usually overclock like mad.
Better episode 3 than another freaking left 4 dead game with new maps for 60 bucks. Im dying to find out what happens after the dramatic cliffhanger ending of episode 2, i wanna go see the aperture science ship borealis stuck in the arctic, seemingly the key to the whole plot.
No doubt source will have a bunch of generational upgrades at least for PC, Episode 2 brought in some enhancements i expect the same with Episode 3. The big question for many of course, will be if it make...
Maybe. But Pc is hardly the exclusive preserve of pirate behaviour. 360 and wii are still pirate prone. Im not sure it will really lose so many sales to pirates just being on Pc as well as 360, it will be pirated on 360 too you can guarantee that.
IF the rumours hold to be true and the game comes to Pc then its a conceivable ambition. If it doesnt then really there is little chance of it selling more than 4 million on 360 alone i would say. the list of exclusive 360 games that have sold more than 4 million is short and share a common theme, shall we say.....'adult' gun combat orientation lol
Just a cut up quote i think. He clearly is referring to sixaxis/dual shock 3 response as the comparitive benchmark
Its not a conspiracy theory, it merely applies to this game. The Pc version did not rate as high, yet it has advantages over the console version. Take it as you wish, but you taking a meta score as last word on which version is best wont exactly convince people that the 360 version is better than the Pc version, when clearly it just isnt
Molyneux talks like the first wasnt on PC.....lol. I can see this coming on Pc now especially after microsofts recent demonstrations of cross format technology. The only pain would probably stem from GFWL, if it did come then it would most certainly be GFWL.
Just because Metacritic rates the 360 version higher unfortunately for you doesnt mean that its the best version- much like how FF13 on PS3 is clearly superior to the 360 one but it seems 360 reviewers are not as harsh as on other platforms. There is no real reason why the 360 version is better than the Pc version of mass effect 2, whereas Pc has reasons like superior graphics and more refined controls.
Its still a superb game on 360, but it isnt the definitive version. That wo...
The problem for developers is scaling for cores, as four cores literally can be twice as fast as two cores and six cores three times as fast. In the past a new single core CPU was a little faster, you know, clock bumps and such nudged the performance along. Whereas dealing with multiple cores further divides the potential performance gap, which can instantly be doubled with the amount of cores on a chip. So developers have to set a baseline within reason, and that is usually two cores right n...
If sales mean game of the year, then yeah, reach will probably take that crown. But if gameplay and originality means a jot then theres a host of other games i would cast my eyes at before reach appears.
I enjoyed Mass effect 2 on Pc and look forward to this on Pc too, along with Starcraft 2 and CNC4. Its actually looks like a superb year for most platforms.
Just......get it done
This is a fail when you consider it struggles against a 4890- which two months ago were going for as little as 140 pounds as they cleared out for the 5 series.

Even 5750 crossfire is probably a better idea for around 200 pounds, it would certainly beat out a 5830 easily. Of course there are more factors to take into consideration such as the system t...
