@blacktiger That too 😎

But a lot of older torrents come from physical media with no online streaming service to rip from.

That is something I noticed but never thought about 😑

Interesting.

I would say a fair few people's first DVD players around where I am from was a PS2 or Gateway 2000 PC.

And a lot of people's only Blu-ray players are consoles. It didn't take off for home video like DVD did for a few reasons.

Dreamcast would have been very expensive or Sega would have had to eat a loss they couldn't afford.

Launching with DVD in 1998/9 would have been an amazing coup if they had the pockets.

Oh, yeah. There will always be a ton of stuff on disc or tape that will never see a streaming service. If you have any interest in film or TV, you are still going to need physical media players.

Civ VI is a fantastic Civ but I just went back to 4 BTS Neo after less than a year with only intermittent sessions of 6 since.

Would like to add, I really enjoyed this article. But then again, I am a fan of TechRaptor so that's nothing new 😊

The best Civilization VI mod is to uninstall it and play Civilization IV with BTS and Neoteric World running instead.

The change in public taste aspect in often understated.

Sega's strengths were intense, graphically impressive arcade-style action games with little depth. By the mid-90s the public's preference was changing away from that and by the time Dreamcast rolled around they still hadn't adjusted to the expectations of deeper, longer-lasting home console experiences.

In fact, Shenmue was Sega trying to do a non-arcade experience and it dug them deeper ...

I had heard about the balloon popping and snippy comments but not about any REALLY bad blood between Race and his former employers. I must look it up.

N64 had a lot of problems but Mario 64 wasn't one of the them.

1699d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Yeah, Mario 64 was really influential in a way that Crash was not.

And I loved Crash back in the day but it hasn't the same esteem as SM64

100% Tetris was more or less the first game for absolutely everybody. Nobody was safe from its addictive quality 🤣

Absolutely. Beyond the distraction and obstruction, it looked unpleasant a lot of the time.

You are mostly stuck with whatever terrible effects on console. There are some options like motion blur that can switched off but it's not common

1713d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

Depth of field is annoying. Along with most camera or lens effects.

But DoF will be cool in the future when they can track what you are looking at and apply DoF accordingly.

1713d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

Yeah, that's a bad one that is missing from the list

1713d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

Exactly. If your account is signed in and playing PS5 everyday then they can be fairly sure it's not a scalper.

I came to comment about the art-style also :-D

It looks cool but I did hate myself for reading the article.

This book looks amazing. And yeah, it's really cool when they do turn up - like some piece of lost gaming history was found :-O

Holy poop. I am away to download this now...
