Could even do an 'alternative PS1 graphics' history. Focus on atypical presentations, like pre-rendered, 2D, BSP engines etc.
I think you are right and I might add in an honourable mentions to at least discuss pre-rendered backgrounds in the visual history of PS1. It was hugely important and should have been in there.
I was going to include Resident Evil for 1996 but I wanted to talk about a second-generation 3D engine versus Ridge Racer, and I also wanted to talk about Lara's animation.
I was also going to put FF8 for 1999 on the list, even wrote a sentence. But then I figu...
N64 had some stunning games, but a lot of the library ran poorly. PS1 games tended to hit a playable 30 more often, albeit with less complex geometry and less/no filtering of textures, and the inherent flaws in how PS1 rasterises graphics.
I played loads of both back in the day and I definitely preferred the solid geometry and smooth textures of N64.
Brilliant. I properly laughed out loud at this.
Genuinely cheered up my Monday morning, thanks internet stranger :-)
They annoyed a whole heap of people for a tenner a pop.
Completely fair. I cannot disagree either, mate.
Many of those who hate Dark Souls II hate it because it's not Dark Souls. The same people love Dark Souls III because it isn't Dark Souls II.
And so many of the issues at the centre of common complaints about DS2 are present in DS3 and sometimes even DS1. The hatred and bile spewed over this perfectly decent game is ludicrous.
They surely will, but only once Switch 3 is out. Just to make us really beg for it :-D
I will be disappointed if they don't nail the voice I used to do to read out my Khajit's dialogue choices lol
The return of the speech and lockpicking minigames made me way too happy :-)
The Witcher 3 had some legendary bugged achievements. I have no idea if they all got fixed.
Hahahaha some of my favourite games have been jankfests, and I can barely explain why I love them anyway.
Hidden & Dangerous for PC is the epitome of it for me. I don't why I loved/still love it in spite of its extremely rough build and awkward everything.
Up there. I have no real standout GotY choice this year TBH...
It's honestly like Crystal Skull never happened.
Oh, I have no doubt it will be stunning on PS5 Pro.
This will keep you going for weeks. It's an epic, in the proper sense of the word.
There is not a single piece of tutelage in the first mission in the garage, they tell you to do XYZ without any instruction.
That's not what a tutorial is. There is a very literal tutorial in a separate menu. There is even an image of the actual tutorial in the article.
The last mission is pure luck whether you pass it. I have passed it several times, not once did I feel any sense of accomplishment cos I knew I had no hand in it. May as well have rolled a dice.
Adding it to the list :-P
I would buy at least half of those if remade, easily.
I would love a remake of Driver 3 also.
